for all the logic and deductive reasoning they use, it ends up being pure chance and blind luck that gives us some of the best discoveries.
And how many problems could have been solved by now, if instead of someone saying "Hey, this isn't doing what I wanted it to do!" instead they said "Wow, not doing what I wanted it to do, but this effect is pretty darn useful too!"
And this is exactly why there needs to be more "research for the sake of research" regardless of whether there is any potential direct commercial value from it.
I would rather they represent the interest of the people before the interest of the corporations.
Yes protecting industry and business are important but not when it cuts into the rights of individuals! First example that comes to mind of how the US gov seems to favor businesses over individuals is the part of the DMCA that makes it illegal for me to back up the DVDs that I payed for and should be able to back up under fair use!
ironically enough, two of the first three "sponsored links" at the current placeholder for www.p2plawsuits.com are for site promising free music or p2p programs.
have you read any of the books? they are good! I don't care how old you are! Yes I might be a little drunk right now cause I discovered a liquor store that lets me make my own 6pack of beer but these books are great! I sure I'm not being as coherent as I usually am due to my BAC but yeah . . . . . .
oh yeah I would also go as far to say that reading these books might be considered at least a little bit nerdy and therefore might explain why its on/.
Yes Firefox does have a lot of things that were in Opera first. For me, and I'm sure some other people as well, the reason I use Firefox, despite its large memory footprint, is the extensions. Give me a way to disable ads, flash, and js easily in Opera as well as a simple way to move all my bookmarks and I would switch to Opera in an instant.
I really wasn't that impressed with the story in HL2 to begin with so I never even considered getting EP1. Hell, the only reason I'll get EP2 is because of Team Fortress! Having episodic games means having a good story to begin with.
MS doesn't have a history of overpricing their consumer products, although Apple does.
I'm guessing you've never looked at the price tag for an off the shelf version of Windows or Office (I'm not talking about upgrades or student/teacher versions)
Not Microsoft's marketing at all. Its the games available for the Xbox: First Person Shooters (and Halo), roster update , GTA (yes I know they're also on PS2), and . . ..well thats pretty much it.
PS2 has its RPGs and Nintendo has its first party long-running franchise games (Zelda, Metroid, Mariokart, etc).
While just about every game available on Xbox is also available on PS2 the big difference is Xbox Live.
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Sony Marketplace only for Everquest2 and on certain servers? Isn't SOE now giving away Everquest2 for free?

I bugs the crap out of me that I had to work my ass off for the 640gold to buy an epic mount that looks like a rat with horns, aka Alterac Valley ram, and some punk with rl cash didn't have to work for it at all. Yeah they work for the cash they spend on the gold but it is a game and should be kept seperate from rl.
If gold farming is here to stay then as much as I dispise what paying real life currency for virtual items in a virtual world I would much prefer companies go the route of Sony Marketplace where real life currency for items is only allowed on specified servers. Hopefully then players like me won't have to deal with it as much.
it seems like programs changing your settings without consent is becoming more and more common. Yesterday Blizzard released a launcher thingy for World of Warcraft. The launcher scans for cheats and keyloggers etc and has links to the WoW website with news. The problem a lot of people have with the new WoW launcher is that reagardless of your systems settings it ALWAYS launches links in IE and if you have program access and defaults set to not allow IE it changes them.
Consumers may be sheep, but even sheep can be pushed too far and become dangerous to the handler. Living in a rural area, I've seen that for myself. The same thing applies to people who Microsoft are attempting to push their DRM on. It can only go so far.
If you toss a frog into a pan of boiling water it will jump out.
If you put a frog in a pan of water and slowly turn up the heat you get frog soup.
keep in mind that amazon.com is only acting to protect its interests. . . . If you were in amazon.com's shoes, you'd probably conclude however relucantly that these actions are absolutely necessary.
If they were only interested in protecting themselves from lawsuit over a patent issue then they should make the patent public for everyone to use to make sure nobody gets sued over something as trivial as this. In fact a good way to prevent stupid trivial patents would be to patent everything trivial and then make it public domain.
well if the Hubble has at least 640k memory it should be fine. . . .right?

IIRC XP only makes you re-activate windows every 3 minor hardware changes (drives, pci cards, etc) or if you changed something like the CPU or Mobo.

since the Wii doesn't have region coding I would thing that it would play GameCube games from any region.
no, they actually added settings that let you control what goes into your feed.
There were no sports or movie based games on that list. You sure this is EA we're talking about right?

who saw the title and thought about putting on my Robe and Wizard Hat?
