So maybe I'm making a mistake with this, but I'm an Asian Languages and Literatures major. Korea, China, and Japan all use the same kanji. They call them different things, and they all have alternate written languages, but if you can read Chinese, you can read Japanese.
And I never said that Japan conquered all of Asia; I said they used the same writing system.
My mistake for forgetting the Middle Eastern languages. My fault.
However, South Asia and Russia have other things more important to them than getting their languages supported by DNS. Like feeding people. These are the countries that I think are interested in this project.
Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Greek and Ethiopian alphaphabets all already have support in Windows at least. My point was typing them is not a problem.
Well for one, if you want to go to a website that uses kanji, your browser has to support them in the first place. If you're in a hotel, chances are your browser is IE. If IE supports the language, there is a keyboard map in place for it. I guarantee it.
Seriously, look at the alternate languages support for windows. They may or may not be pre-installed, but there is support for hundreds, if not thousands of languages already in place. The packages may require installation, but the support is available, and all of these languages are already usable.
'when URLs can't even be typed in on all keyboards' As far as Japanese go, there are very usable technologies that allow to type in kanji. Using a standard latin keyboard. It works pretty well, and i'm not sure what other languages have such options available, but since most of Asia uses the same kanji system I'm pretty sure that at least Asia has viable typing options. 'of what use is the parts of the Internet I can't even type the domain name for?' Its of no use... to you. But then again, can you read Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Sanskrit or any other non-latin language? no? Then your usability isn't in question here.
Technically its not a worm, because a worm is a self-contained program, requiring no other software interaction to function. This required the "second life" client to be in existence in order to cause damage, and so cannot be considered a virus. It does, however, fit many criteria to be considered a virus.
There is a problem with that point. The US, Australian, and South American genocides happened centuries ago. The problem people have with the situation in Israel involves world wide support of a current genocide. Unlike in Darfur, where the world disapproves but is too lazy/incapable of fixing the problem, in Israel not only are we not trying to stop the war, we're FACILITATING it.
"Of course, the northern part of the South American continent used to basically be an unmitigated hell of human sacrifice that valued individual human life less than China (or the US, for that matter) does today."
This quote. I have to wonder why you put it here. It implies that you're glad that Aztec cultures were subsumed by European ones. Hokay. Now, how does that relate to this situation? Are you implying that Israel is doing the world a favor by massacring the Palestinians?
According to TFA:
"An earlier report that the incident occurred at the University of California at Santa Cruz has proven false."
The article includes that, and a quote from a DHS representative saying that it "seemed unlikely." How has it proven false? Did the professor make it up? Did a reporter make it up? What happened?
If I'm not mistaken, the entire point of China's communist viewpoint on this matter is to help society. They're not (purportedly) trying to be selfish; they're trying to keep money from Chinese people IN China, to do things like build roads, fund hospitals, and in general get things done for the Chinese people; if the money goes to Skype, the American corporate world uses it to fund American goals
The largest problem facing public schools in America is not parents opposing the system. I'll give you a hint what is: Poor distribution of funding. This trend has been apparent for a long time but no child left behind did NOT help.
While we are at it, since I don't agree with your decisions, that makes you the scum of the Earth as well. Just like the 19 year old girl you so despise. Why don't we remove you/your parents/loved ones from the face of the Earth?
People make mistakes. Deal with it, you don't have to help them, but you have no right to force abortions on someone.
I really don't think you're being fair to these people at all. You can't say "these people" don't care, because they don't have one particular uniting cause. Saying it's all about getting attention and respect may be true in some cases, but I KNOW there are pirates out there who are trying to break media monopolies, and I KNOW there are pirates out there who were pissed about the Valve incident.
I believe the reason Tolkein was so revered was because he created a world with a depth to it rarely seen before. The made up languages and lengthy appendices werent there for the story in itself, so much as the people who read the book and wanted to be more fully immersed in the world of Middle-Earth.
You are right, CCTV does help convict lots of criminals. However, those crimes are still committed. CCTV has only shown a 3-4% prevention rate of crime, and that has been in crimes like car theft and shoplifting.
Rape and assault are still just as likely to be committed, while better street lighting (far cheaper and no privacy concerns) REDUCED crime by 20%.
I'd really much rather those crimes were never committed, rather than knowing they'll catch whoever did it.
ok please read this post this time, this is the last post im going to make:
I am trying to say that the patriot act is a step towards bringing the U.S. towards korea. Which means no one from united states will be able to fight for freedom over the world. In fact the US will probably help oppressive governments oppress more efficiently. As the US starts a backwards slide, the rest of the world will probably (note the probably) follow.
I may just be biased, or then again I may be thinking that helping the US will help the rest of the world. I think its quite a bit of both.
I'm not saying anything is wrong with fighting for china, what I'm saying is 2 things:
1: Before i can fight for china I have to be free.
2: before i can fight for china i have to be a citizen.
As of now, i cant vote, and as such politicians care not for my opinion. Which means foreign policy is beyond me, so ill fight the battles i can actually participate in. Like ones for my rights, or those of the Chinese immigrants (whose rights are also thoroughly hampered by the patriot act)
Do all global liberals treat others like you? Granted i may have a different opinion that you consider wrong, but that doesnt making me a drooling idiot. If youre a 'true' global liberal, then im not surprised why people hate them so much.
Then educate me. You continue to call me a child. Thats because i am. I am 17 years old, and i get my news where i can find it. And you know what? Every news source i have found says that bill was signed. Now, if you want to tell me differently, please do. But your constant insults fix and help nothing and no one.
I am willing to learn; present facts and i will.
My point is that this is happening in the us, right now. Not at that level yet, but the laws are there that provide for it. They just need to be enforced, and it seems likely that they will.
Provide me with a link to a reliable news source from anywhere, and i will read it.
Righto. Read this. Patiot Act II That is a review of the patriot act II. Please read it, and then you may continue telling me to read about rights in china. That document is a fair depiction. And in your next post , can you make it relate to the topic?
Oh really? How can you tell me that I'm exaggerating?
You are full of an exaggerated sense of importance, and superiority which you don't have. YOu aren't listening to anyone who can tell you what is going on.
Local schools ban shirts with any form of message, based on laws i have no say in. I could have an FBI file and could be arrested/detained for any period of time with that tshirt as the only reason. Look up the patriot act at the unbiased media output of your choice.
my apologies for not stating clearly i meant the patriot act. Mere suspicions can put me in jail. I have a shirt that says USSR on it. The idea was from teh show Fooley Cooly, and it almost got me pulled over by local police.
I understand you think I'm exaggerating, but for god sake man read the patriot act. At any minute our government can become worse than china's on the whim of a man who chokes on pretzels. Think about that and call my statements hyberbole again.
Ok, but youre missing the point too friend. I am one of the 'children' you refer to, and you know what? I read this, and I know that by the time I can have any say in my government it will be too late. Because by then, the patriot act III will be out, and george orwell's 1984 will be only 20 years too early. As of now, I AM treated like the people in China. I have no rights, but then neither do the rest of you. Its not possible for me to take up arms, ideological or otherwise, because i get arrested and sent to my parents.
We need the voters to take action, to quit focusing solely on terrorism and realize we have rights we need to protect too. We have to fix things IN the west, before we can fix everything else...
These terrorists are not entirely stupid. Any organization capable of launching an effective/damaging attack against any major government will have members not yet discovered by the government. Which means their ID will be accepted and their records clear of a glaring "THIS IS A TERRORIST" mark. All of this neatly circumvents any difficulties provided by checking ID.
I'm not saying security is not important, because it is; I'm saying that there is a balance somewhere between security and privacy where we still catch the terrorists, but our nation does not revoke our personal rights.
So maybe I'm making a mistake with this, but I'm an Asian Languages and Literatures major. Korea, China, and Japan all use the same kanji.
