You obviously do not know what offshoring jobs has really done for us. Offshoring jobs actually saved businesses who were suffering a couple years ago. Most of those businesses would have completely gone down under had it not been for cheaper labor available in other countries. Globalization is inevitable, but as we go along, new opportunities will arise. So before talking out of your own a$$, you should consider both sides.
Pascal was great during the early 90s... It brings back memories of BBSes with 300-2400 bauders. Back then, this language was probably the most popular structured language. Many free and commercial BBS programs and doors were created using Pascal, using the free DDPLUS door kit for 7.0. So it wasn't just used for bubblesorts, it drove much of the BBS community!
Although Blu-Ray may hold more information (25GB/layer * 2 layers = 50GB vs 15GB * 2 layers =/30GB for HD-DVD), I personally am sick of Sony trying to push their proprietary standards out again. They do have a large backing for Blu-Ray, but if you take a look back at their other (and more expensive) dead-end proprietary products--namely Mini-Discs and Memory Sticks, I wouldn't count HD-DVD out just yet...
This is a good thing--as long as it is limited to games which are rated mature. I'm tired of hearing about how kids are influenced by games to injure others. Of course, the parents should not buy/rent games like Manhunt for their children to play, but if a kid really wants to play the game, he/she can easily go to a friend's house who was able to get it and play it there. But, at least we're making it harder for them to do so.
Anyways, one of the first things a kid should know is the difference between right and wrong!!
I never said I recommended it, but I know people who have some and have had no problems whatsoever. Plus, the players seem to be fully-featured for the low price. As for the people who hate their products, well, you get what you pay for!
Actually, attempting to record a DVD using RCA outputs from a DVD playing device will result in a macrovision message being popped up on the screen! It knows... well unless you have one of the Apex players!
Paypal has always had a history of problems. If you've ever tried disputing a claim, then you'll know what I mean. Although Paypal makes transactions a LOT easier (and faster) on eBay and other online services, I wouldn't pump large amounts of money into my Paypal balance...It's just too risky! Not to mention that there are lots of people out there running scams by using Paypal who are aware of the fact that many people feel safe because of their "Confirmed User" status. So it doesn't surprise me that they continue to have problems elsewhere...
I know a few members of the faculty, and from what I hear, the majority of the faculty is completely disgusted because of these actions, and some even fear their own websites may be taken away by force in the future...
Who has tried VOIP? I too am wondering whether or not it's worth making the switch... Anyways, if everyone did switch, under peak hours, the lag has got to suck...
Growing up as a software developer in C and C++, I'm really impressed with Java. Although it IS slower and it runs on another layer on top of the OS, it IS still very impressive because OOP gives people the chance to understand programming without having to know much besides how objects interact with each other... (Dog plays with Ball, Car has Wheels, etc.) The platform independence is also a plus, and as our processors increase in speed, the overhead of running on top of a layer which runs on top an OS will become less significant.
Hello Rob,
How do you feel about the current situation with SCO? Also, what do you think about intellectual property in software and how it influences developers' creativity?

In other news... Google plans to get into the interactive pron business with their innovative "gspot" web-based application...
Finally a storage medium capable of storing a decent quality photo of my wanker!
