By chance, did your great-grandfather happen to build horse-drawn carriages around the time Henry Ford introduced the Model T? It might go a long way to understanding your reluctance to accept change.
I'm an avid reader. Occasionally I'll dip into fantasy or sci-fi where trilogies are more likely to be found. I've never been so impatient that I couldn't wait an "hour or so" to get to another title.
To me, the BIG disadvantage of an e-reader is this:
When Amazon goes belly up in a few (or 45 years) where will my books be? Next to me I have a 1887 4 volume edition of Les Miserable and I am confident that no matter what happens to the Little, Brown and Company publishing house, my book isn't going to go poof on my nightstand while I'm brushing my teeth.
It sounds like you don't get out much (pro tip: Vitamin D is good for you). The real world here in the states isn't as ideal as you think it is. Ever been downtown, anywhere? No? Then have you ever driven out of state and had a breakdown in a rural area?
Unless Android is lying, the "About Phone" option on my Android phone claims that 91% of the battery was devoted to the display (and I have it set low). I fail to see how a custom ROM's better CPU management can make an appreciable difference. This is, of course, based on my personal usage habits. Perhaps to someone who doesn't turn on the screen as much as me, a custom ROM would be better.
Why are you intentionally being obtuse? Of course your phone's charge will last 2+ days if you keep the display off. Or are you trying to imply that you have played Angry Birds for 36 hours straight without charging?
I have the option of working from home every day if I wanted but I still choose to drive to the office (35 minutes to downtown Chicago) despite the added costs associated with driving because I enjoy spending time with the people I work with. Perhaps you should consider another job with a friendlier environment even it it meant a 10% pay cut?
Lots of predictable comments about the safety implications but I'm surprised nobody has questioned the sensibility of adding an unnecessary power consuming device to an electric vehicle.
By your logic, your post is off topic as well since it doesn't comment on Flickr's censorship. I was replying to the poster than mentioned the pictures should be hosted on wikileaks, I didn't start a new thread.
Right. Remember when wikileaks was supposed to be an actual wiki? They used to host leaked information from many sources regarding other nations. Go to their site now and none of that is to be found. Their agenda has changed and it is clear to those who've been online since 2007...
The title was "The Most Violent Games of All Time", not "The Most Violent Games At the Time They Were Released."
Those titles are tame in comparison to today's games.
When I read the headline I thought "Hmm good. Nintendo might be doing something about all the bad shovelware they grant a license to. Browse your local game store. For every Twilight Princess, Dead Space, and Super Mario Galaxy 2, there are dozens more cheap movie knock-offs littering the shelves like "Hannah Montana The Movie", "Pimp My Ride", and "Big Momma's House 2 -- Even Larger"
Guess I was wrong.
"I watched way too much MythBusters"
That's your first problem. They run so roughshod over the scientific method, it isn't even funny. They're the Nickolodean of the "Science" channel now....
No!. Wikileaks does not have it right either. Today's version of Wikileaks only releases information approved by themselves as well! Remember their original mission? Remember when they were supposed to be, you know, an actual wiki. When the leaked information prior to 2010 was actually readily available (note: it's not I just checked). And don't say because it's located somewhere deep in a huge torrent that it's still available. Part of Wikileaks is that it provides publicity to these leaks, however benign they are.
But most importantly, what about their 'insurance file'? That sure sounds to me like they're withholding information.
I don't trust this new 'leaks' sites either, but to claim Wikileaks is the paragon of "leak" journalism (whatever that means) is shortsighted.
I was a big fan of FreeBSD about 6 years ago when I first encountered their ports package management system. Nothing, not even Debian at the time eclipsed it. Since then I've moved to Ubuntu and Linux for most of my servers because the rest of the world caught up with them. But I hold a place in my heart for BSD (as much as one can for an OS...).
NBC is also guilty of doctoring a video showing a Black man carrying a rifle, to make it appear that it was "white racists" who want to "execute the president". Woah. First class propaganda.
Thanks Capt. Obvious. That's what he just said....

...and I would like to subscribe to your stone tablet.
Boring? Baseball wasn't... hmm, so they finally jazzed it up? Multiball! http://theinfosphere.org/Blernsball
Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Welcome to the Cloud (TM)
Amazon had it for $40 USD yesterday as part of their deal of the day. It's $60 USD on Steam where I prefer to purchase it from.
Not until they lower the price from $60 for the PC version it's not.

Disregard this. I just realized that a number can be communicated quite easily by other methods, one of which is land-line.
"POTS modem is a decent choice for data"
Maybe, but how many people know a dial-up number out of country that is also free?

When it can pull my boat it will.
