It is totally "teh awsum" at 1080p. I dug it out of my browser cache, renamed it to xx.flv, then slowed it down in VLC. Amazing. Can't wait until the WISE data gets added to this.
There was quite a bit of gesture-based interfaces (particularly piloting) in Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict. Not sure if it was Gene who put in in there as it debuted after his death.
That's a great idea. Rather than making a few simple changes to the interface, we'll let the Invisible Hand solve the problem. Hospitals that hire nurses who make the occasional simple, human mistake will eventually go out of business. That's brilliant. I'm so glad we have Republicans around to show us the Right Way (tm) to do things.
Imagine taking crowd-scene photos of a sporting event then when your friend said he was there and points his face out in the crowd, you can print him out an 8x12 of him and his friends.
Even if your sensor could (theoretically) do that, your (hand holdable) lens couldn't.
I have to go with Ken Rockwell on this one: Megapixels don't matter. Unless you're blowing your 35mm shots up to poster size, pixel density over about 8 megapixels is useless overkill.
The particular technology doesn't matter. Do you really want to live in a world where every time you "enter your home, your car, your workspace, get a prescription filled, etc.", it's recorder in a database? Do you want "every person, place and thing on this planet" (these are his quotes, not mine) recorded? TFA goes on with quotes from him tracking movements (truckers to start) and extolling the complete loss of privacy for everyone "on the planet". I say we start by tracking this miserable salesfuck and his family 24x7 and publishing it, see how wonderful he thinks it is.
"In the future, whether it's entering your home, opening your car, entering your workspace, getting a pharmacy prescription refilled, or having your medical records pulled up, everything will come off that unique key that is your iris," says Jeff Carter, CDO of Global Rainmakers. Before coming to GRI, Carter headed a think tank partnership between Bank of America, Harvard, and MIT. "Every person, place, and thing on this planet will be connected [to the iris system] within the next 10 years," he says.
This is a new low for/.! Who the hell is Ray, and what is the claim?
If you didn't slap your forehead and mutter "Oh god!" when you read the name "Ray Kurzweil", you don't belong on Slashdot. The very mention of his name is a shorthand for "Abandon logic and plausibility, all ye who enter here".

Yeah, we call that "nighttime" around here.
I wanted to thank him.
A $100,000 server? At a loan company? Damn, $100,000 is a LOT of box for a Physics department at a large university.
Cheese and beer??? Seriously, BEER?? Obviously, you're not a Mac person.
Did you mean "cheese and biscuits" or "cheese + biscuits"?

Reading comprehension fail #2. You're assuming that I meant that A, B and C were disjoint. Actually they're almost completely overlapping.
as a quintessentially Republican screed, then you're either: a) not paying a lick of attention, b) dishonest, or c) a Republican.
Oh. Wait.

Bleh. Flash. Yuck. They should have used JPEG for that 45 GP photo.

I'm sure the folks over at SDSS (Sloan Digital Sky Survey) would be happy to make use of a sensor like this.
Don't be silly. Larry King is many orders of magnitude older.
"breath" is a noun. "breathe" is the verb.
"If you're not doing anything wrong, then you have nothing to hide or fear; isn't that true, citizen?"

BURN IN HELL, MOTHERFUCKER!
But "looking at porn" wasn't one of the viable alternatives?
Sure, because Faux News is held so terribly accountable whenever they get something wrong.
Of course not. No self-respecting Autobot would be caught dead disguised as a Prius.

Because they can't make a fist.
Mmmmmm ... Kitty Carlisle...
