    Or use a firewall that checks egress, too. I use one, and find that RealPlayer and Adobe Reader also phone home even when you tell them not to.

    As yet, all the Hatto recordings they've looked at have been copies. Hatto's husband, who produced and released them, says he cannot explain the similarities.
    I'd say he's got a pretty limited imagination. It's pretty obvious where the "similarities" came from.

    People rarely talk about just how viral Office updates are. You save a doc in 2000 format, and suddenly 97 can no longer open it. Save it in 2003 and 2000 can't open it. And so on. A customer/vendor/friend sends you a doc file, and you can't open it. Time to upgrade!

    That's very true, but at the same time, the federal court system is being packed with exactly these kinds of people. And they're not subject to being voted out of office.
