    This gives me an idea. Remember those old "control circuit LEDS with your computer!" experiments?

    Look, if we keep fighting for first posts (see above) in a website, where we gain nothing but make such morons of ourselves, what moral authority do we have to stop the nations from fighting for the LaGrange points? "-1, greedy"?

    Something like this would never be implemented in an open source compiler. With open source, you know exactly what you get...

    If you mean GCC, then, yeah, I couldn't agree more with you. It's equally slow on EVERY processor :)

    No, they're just ignorant sheep that believe whatever lies their government tells them, without even questioning, and supporting them fighting "terrorism" in oil-rich countries. Keep going, America! (insert sarcastic patriotic song and waving flag here)

    High level languages are built on top of other languages. After all, in which language are .NET or Java compilers written?

    The good characteristic of C++ is that it's low level. It's the lowest-level language that is independent of hardware, except for plain C.

    For this reason, C++ won't disappear. It will just evolve.

    Of course, If C++ ends up being a compiler-only language (which is very probable), oh well. What can we do about it?

    This is one of the reasons i love PHP so much:

    foreach($array as $item)
    {
    }

    I never use any for_each crap in C++. I just make sure all my arrays begin at index 0. Sure, it's risky at times, but definitely much more elegant than the half-baked C++ iterators.

    This doesnt do Linux much good either.


    Au contraire... when you find out that all the apps you're using on windows happen to run on Linux too (and natively!), why not switch? When all windows users use a F/OSS app on windows (instead of say, photoshop, or maybe excel, etc), one of the major obstacles for switching to Linux will be gone.

    Which is the reason I've been telling F/OSS programmers to write cross-platform apps.
