I think this is a step in the wrong direction. Id rather have them throttle my torrent or whatever
You're just falling into their trap. Later they'll cancel this and say "the only way to avoid this is by throttling", and you'll say "whew! I'm ok with that!"
Add an awesome future to Microsoft's LGPL version, and relicense it as GPL.
The community version will then become better than the official version, and everybody will start using it. BWAHAHAHA.
Unless we're working with libraries. I'm really not sure what would happen in that case. See, if you modify a library you're legally obligated to release the changes into the public. This is perfect for APIs and things that require interoperability.
Actually, you can run multiple VM's at the same time and have them use their own private network (but good luck setting up non-nat network). Along with the shared files, I think it can do most of what you require.
The only difficult part would be running xbox halo, sorry. No "don't shut down the server" for you:)
As anyone who has watched Monty Python will know, elderly ladies can be just as much a hazard to society as young hooligans.
Not to mention the frustration you feel when they're standing on the line for your local department store, and then they can't find their credit card in their magician-like purses.
With Windows 7 around the corner, it'll be another 2 or 3 additional years at least for Midori to start going mainstream.
By that time, I predict that either GNU/Linux will take over the desktop, or that ReactOS will reach version 1.0 and people will start migrating to it.
Is having an e-mail address a right or a privilege? Is the internet a right or a privilege? Is reading newspapers a right or a privilege? Is free speech a right or a privilege?
In the information era, not having internet access will put you in a situation where others have advantage over you. This has not only social, but economical consequences.
Imagine a country where only the privileged ($$$) have internet access, and it's censored by the government. You can't really talk about what you want, you can't transfer information, you can't download Linux because it would take weeks (and therefore you have to get it from magazines one-year-old, and that's if you can find them)
Actually my point was that guys who want to pirate movies WILL resort to torrent sites. It's ridiculous to say they're confused.
Now what I'd like to find are legal music purchase sites. The problem is, I'm scared of my bank account being drained so it's safer to just download from torrent sites than from a relatively unknown mp3 store. I'd only trust sites like Amazon (still waiting for their intl. sales to open).
There are exceptions though. A lot of Japanese games are quite "slow" and have a lot of puzzles, especially RPGs.
I think you hit the nail on the head. While US TV shows and movies are crappy quality, there are still very good animes being produced.
It's the same with videogames. Japanese RPGs keep being interesting, with their sidequests, drama and everything.
From this perspective, it's not videogames per-se whose quality is decreasing, but american videogames, american TV shows, american movies, american companies, american government...
Even better, you can mix your face with famous actresses and see how your children would look like :D
Mind giving an example of what we're missing?
(Note to mods: This is an honest question, no sarcasm intended or anything)
They still have pretty good fetish porn. Chicks in rubber and PVC.
And here I thought techno chicken was weird!

Unfortunately, it looks not just ugly, but HIDEOUS! :(
I googled for wordscraper, but couldn't get any image results. And since I don't have a Facebook account, I can't see how it looks like.

If you don't stand up for your rights, who will?

No. Common sense would say it's a bug. Tin-foil-hat sense would say, "it is there for the purpose of limiting consumer choice."
Just as about Foxconn's ACPI "bug".

There :)

I don't even want to imagine a computer with the developers' manual carved on it!
Hey, maybe that's why ancient computers depicted in Sci-fi shows have these gigantic walls with hieroglyphs on them... *ponders*

HTML5 is a working draft, far away from even a Candidate Recommendation. It's a bit early to start implementing
Just the same thing IE devs said about the latest CSS specs.
I have FF3 on PCLinuxOS and GMail runs just fine for me.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiretoko :
Shiretoko may refer to:
* A place in Hokkaido, Japan:
o Shiretoko National Park
o Shiretoko Peninsula
* The code name for Mozilla Firefox 3.1.
Chessulous? Pokulous?
Pikachulous! I choose you!!
There is some, at least. In the US, that would be localization.
Don't you mean "locali$ation"?
Internet throttling is *NOT* an engineering problem. It's a GREED problem!
People must be allowed access to what they ALREADY PAID FOR. If the ISPs can't give Unlimited Bandwidth, then stop lying.

I try not to talk loudly around it, and make sure it's emotional needs are met.
No wonder sensitive data is lost so easily in Microsoft Windows... it's still scared of the chairs.

Hmmm I think I found a pattern here...
...as opposed to ancient gamers? Preindustrial gamers? Renaissance gamers? Pre-war gamers?
Giant enemy crabs?
I'm always confused where I should insert the quarters...
As it turns out, the floppy drive isn't such a good idea.
Lucky you, I had inserted my coins in the CD ROM! The metal grinding noise still haunts me in my dreams... :(
