Having your computer turned on for hours and days before your download is finished, is really annoying.
This is why I prefer to use streaming websites when I decide to watch an (unlicensed of course;-) ) anime, rather than starting the torrents and waiting for them to download.
I agree, to a certain point. Cars need a minimum weight as to not be pushed by lateral winds, so I don't think making the WHOLE body of this stuff would be a good idea. Having said that, this plastic could be a wonderful extra layer of protection for your car.
At the risk of sounding too obvious, here's my advise: If you want to earn money with open source, charge for the customisation and maintenance of the software, not for the software itself. This way you can pick up whatever open source project you decide, since you're adapting it for your customer.
The other day we had to set up a MSSQL driver for PHP and we got so frustrated over getting it to work (dependencies, compilation... doesn't work after compiled... no manual...) that we ended up using a WAMP stack.
OK, I know, it was a server, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had installation troubles with Linux.
OK OK. I'll clarify. From now on I will NOT buy any pice of music or movie from the RIAA or MPAA. However, I WILL buy music or movies from independent studios or record labels if I need to.
You're right, and thanks for clarifying my point. However, SMTP is a protocol, just like TCP and IP are. Changing a protocol's specs _IS_ changing the internet. (At least IMO).
I tried setting up freenet the other day. I had to pick 10 nodes to connect to, just to get connected. So i ended up in an irc channel asking stupid questions like "nodes plz?". Worse, the format for adding the nodes isn't clearly documented.
If you want my opinion, freenet is yet another one of the reasons why linux gurus shouldn't write programs.
If the blogger's accusations turn out to be false, the blogger's credibility will fall down like those wacky conspiracy theorists. Case closed. And if they turn to be true, cool, one point for justice.
But certainly I don't think the blogger should be arrested for libel unless he gives his name and accuses the hospital. See, he's anonymous and his credibility is null. Big deal.
I mean, it's like the rumour about a Coca Cola bottle with a rat inside. Nobody can verify it, and it's just hearsay. Or what about the people who say there are UFOs in Area 51? Are they going to get sued for libel, too?
Around 10 years ago, where a famous news agency reported on the Chupacabra according to some information they found "in the internet!" (lol). Gee, the internet became the Brittanica all of a sudden;-)
If people start believing every freaking thing they see on the internet, then the problem isn't the blogger, or the hospital. It's the bunch of idiots behind the monitors of their compies. Why should people believe an ANONYMOUS blogger? Or everyone's guilty until proven innocent now?
It's the authorities' duty, not ours, to judge the hospital.
You should have asked if the plane can combine with others to form a superior robot!
Sheesh, what's wrong with you realists?

Having video-on-demand is the next logical step.
But I like it better this way B-)
So... why not make cars out of this stuff?

When i saw the title i imagined something more like bulletproof glass, but, as you can see, it's pretty thin.

it's the non-commonly-used apps.

There.
You said it, for OTHER reasons. I'm doing this to make a statement. Revolution!!!
This is a public announcement. From now on, i will NOT buy ANY original movie or piece of music EVER.
Now sue me.
Blaming the Internet for spam is like blaming roads for drunk drivers.
:).
Considering SPAM quantity as 10x to 100x regular e-mail, I'd like to see the equivalent road
You're right, and thanks for clarifying my point. However, SMTP is a protocol, just like TCP and IP are. Changing a protocol's specs _IS_ changing the internet. (At least IMO).
Seriously, there really isn't anything that wrong with the Internet.
My junk mail folder seems to disagree with you.

I think that should clear it up.
Hmmm... smells like the bubble could be collapsing.
:D
Look! A needle!

But it's fun, you have to admit it. The 'ohnoitsroland' tag has become another beowulf cluster joke :) I've tagged one of his stories that way, too.
Right, i forgot about this whole thing "ISP spying on us" business :(
*sigh* when are the fully-encrypted + anonymous filesharing apps coming?
If the RIAA sues us for illegally downloading their music... can we choose how much we can settle for too?
With peerguardian, you shouldn't fear getting sued - or am I wrong?
I think the Slashdot IQ level is dropping because this is a Digg story.
[some guy] [scary] At least you should thank it's not a Fark.com story!
I think the editors should post stories from 10 years ago, just to remember the times.
Opinions, anyone?
I can't be certain, of course, but I believe that I wrote the first "you must be new here" post
;-)
Link or didn't happen
I prefer Amazon because I will not touch DRMed music
Unfortunately, by choosing Amazon you'd support a company which has troubled the entire internet with their 1-click patent war.
Is there any chance of a class action lawsuit against microsoft for monopolic practices regarding ODF?
