  1. Dummy... on Japanese Stealth Fighter Announced as 'Return of the Zero' · · Score: 3, Funny

You should have asked if the plane can combine with others to form a superior robot!
Sheesh, what's wrong with you realists?

  2. Searching isn't the hassle. Waiting for the dl is. on Video-on-Demand Success in France Deters Piracy · · Score: 1

Having your computer turned on for hours and days before your download is finished, is really annoying.

This is why I prefer to use streaming websites when I decide to watch an (unlicensed of course ;-) ) anime, rather than starting the torrents and waiting for them to download.

Having video-on-demand is the next logical step.

  3. Sorry for misreading... on US Scientist Creates Artificial Life · · Score: 1
    I read it as:

The arficial chromosome, if all goes well, will be installed in a cell, and will take over their machinery, and all living things.

But I like it better this way B-)
  4. Light cars = Look out, some wind! on Super-Light Plastic As Strong as Steel · · Score: 1

So... why not make cars out of this stuff?

I agree, to a certain point. Cars need a minimum weight as to not be pushed by lateral winds, so I don't think making the WHOLE body of this stuff would be a good idea. Having said that, this plastic could be a wonderful extra layer of protection for your car.

  6. Customisation on What is the Best Way to Start a Paid GPL Project? · · Score: 3, Informative

At the risk of sounding too obvious, here's my advise: If you want to earn money with open source, charge for the customisation and maintenance of the software, not for the software itself. This way you can pick up whatever open source project you decide, since you're adapting it for your customer.

  7. It's not Linux that's hard to install... on The Next Leap for Linux · · Score: 1

    it's the non-commonly-used apps.

The other day we had to set up a MSSQL driver for PHP and we got so frustrated over getting it to work (dependencies, compilation... doesn't work after compiled... no manual...) that we ended up using a WAMP stack.

OK, I know, it was a server, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had installation troubles with Linux.

  8. Re:That does it for me! on Verdict Reached In RIAA Trial · · Score: 1

OK OK. I'll clarify. From now on I will NOT buy any pice of music or movie from the RIAA or MPAA. However, I WILL buy music or movies from independent studios or record labels if I need to.

    There.

  16. Re:If the RIAA sues us... on Radiohead Says Name Your Own Price for New Album · · Score: 1

I tried setting up freenet the other day. I had to pick 10 nodes to connect to, just to get connected. So i ended up in an irc channel asking stupid questions like "nodes plz?". Worse, the format for adding the nodes isn't clearly documented.

If you want my opinion, freenet is yet another one of the reasons why linux gurus shouldn't write programs.

  25. The hospital should be investigated then. on Hospital Wants Critical Blogger's Anonymity Ended · · Score: 3, Insightful

If the blogger's accusations turn out to be false, the blogger's credibility will fall down like those wacky conspiracy theorists. Case closed. And if they turn to be true, cool, one point for justice.

But certainly I don't think the blogger should be arrested for libel unless he gives his name and accuses the hospital. See, he's anonymous and his credibility is null. Big deal.

I mean, it's like the rumour about a Coca Cola bottle with a rat inside. Nobody can verify it, and it's just hearsay. Or what about the people who say there are UFOs in Area 51? Are they going to get sued for libel, too?

Around 10 years ago, where a famous news agency reported on the Chupacabra according to some information they found "in the internet!" (lol). Gee, the internet became the Brittanica all of a sudden ;-)

If people start believing every freaking thing they see on the internet, then the problem isn't the blogger, or the hospital. It's the bunch of idiots behind the monitors of their compies. Why should people believe an ANONYMOUS blogger? Or everyone's guilty until proven innocent now?

It's the authorities' duty, not ours, to judge the hospital.
