  1. Good, that's an easy fix. A single government entity can make an entire country's energy from renewables. Super easy. Let's do it.

You're either an idiot or a troll or a Russian troll or all three. Either way, the world population *is* growing at an exponential rate. This has been happening since about 1970. This is unsustainable.

  5. Glad I don't have kids on 'Hyperalarming' Study Shows Massive Insect Loss (washingtonpost.com) · · Score: 3, Insightful

I'm super glad I don't have kids. Our rapidly changing ecosystem is going to make planet Earth really, really nasty for humans in the next century.

We're already starting to see mass migration due to climate change. That's going to get worse because currently habitable areas are going to become uninhabitable, and because of exponential population growth.

If we have some food systems collapse, as these insect studies seem to indicate is already happening, well... that's pretty scary.

Humans have grown technology much faster than than they have the ability to think about the repercussions of using it. This isn't good at all.

    You are lying.

    From the study:

climate warming is the major driver of reductions in arthropod abundance, indirectly precipitating a bottom-up trophic cascade and consequent collapse of the forest food web

  9. What's a better option for listening to music than Winamp? Seriously?

  10. Winamp never went anywhere. Unlike most modern software, it didn't require to check in over the Internet to work, so it still works just fine today. I've been happily using Winamp for a few decades, and hopefully, I'll continue to use it for the foreseeable future. The last version is version 5.666, and it was released as a final "thank you, goodbye" with *all* of the "pro" (formerly paid) features, and none of the crapware. I use it for playing all of my media, for ripping and burning CD's, and all sorts of neat stuff.

Sometimes, software works as intended, with no problems, and simply doesn't need to be "upgraded" any more. I think this is one of those cases.

So many people (in the US, mainly Republicans), don't care unless it affects *them* in *their wallet*, that it's not a bad idea to throw this kind of stuff out there, in the hopes that maybe a few of those self-centered assholes will wake up. If telling dummies that their beer will get more expensive is what it takes for some of them to be concerned about climate change, so be it (as sad as that may be).

You're right. There are some crazy people. Always have been. Always will be. But this idea that the whole world would is out to get is is hysterical bullshit. The US's defense/military dwarfs everybody else's on the planet by orders of magnitude. Nobody can invade us or hurt you. Just fucking relax and turn off Fox News. Maybe try to travel to other countries, where you'll see that 99.999% of people are just trying to get through this life, just the same as you.
