agreed. The title should be changed. When i read the title i thought Ubuntu created different membership levels or something. I'm an Ubuntu Member myself and it wasnt hard to get. Its not really a big deal you get a few small perks like the @ubuntu.com email address (which just forwards to your launchpad email account) and the right to use the ubuntu logo on your resume or business cards. sometimes they let Ubuntu Members test stuff before its released to the public like UbuntuOne (just like dropbox).
you could stream videos, music, youtube, internet radio, etc to your xbox360 (or any other DLNA client for that matter) with PS3mediaServer http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/
I have a Samsung UN55B8000 TV and with the new firmware update, I am able to use youtube. It looks great! My only complaint is that it is hard to navigate with the TV's remote control. I wish i could hook up a wireless keyboard.
I've used several bluetooth and RF wireless mice. One thing you should consider is that when the CPU is bogged down the bluetooth mouse will become jerky and unusuable.
I'll believe it when I see it. I've always had trouble on every windows XP and Vista machine i've tried it on. I use uShare in Ubuntu Linux and TVersity in Windows to stream SD to the TV. HDTV from mkv is more tricky. best to use an HTPC.
Yes, you can play movies in VLC in Linux on the PS3.... as long as they are NOT High Definition. without 3d hardware acceleration and low ram, running Linux on the PS3 is painfully slow and sluggish. I tried to play the open source, open movie Elephant's Dream in HD with VLC on the PS3 and it barely ran. it was so choppy it was unwatchable.
I love linux and use it as my Primary Operating system, but I feel sorry for people trying out linux for the first time on the PS3 because its just frustrating. Not only is it really slow but many applications are either are not supported with the PPC processor or you have to compile them yourself.
$20/hr is too little. $50/hr is reasonable, and still MUCH less than having a professional computer company do a service call to a house or business. You need to consider that when you touch their computer, you will immediately be responsible for it during your service call as well after your service call. Imagine your customer calling you up one week later saying:
"my modem isnt working now, but it was working before you worked on my PC... I know a week has passed, but I only just now tried to use the modem, you still need to fix it at no charge"
well I just ordered one. I wonder how close they are to getting their target 5000 orders. I havent seen anyone else order one from slashdot, so I guess I must be #1/5000.
I used to watch the original TV series when I was younger, and although it was a different twist to the same story, I very much enjoyed the new mini series. I think we need more good Sci-Fi shows on TV, and this one gets my vote!
Hey I though they were working on a Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie. I don't know if it's still in the works or not since Douglas Adams died:-(

It makes sense to me why he would have to leave x number of years to the day and minute. Perhaps his beam of light has to wait until the Earth is realigned with whatever light-path he took? So it must take 5 revolutions around the sun for his lightpath to reconnect to K-Pax. Just a thought:-)

Hey How can you save the streamed video to disk so you can watch it without having it skip, or post it on an FTP site so the rest of us can watch it before the site gets Slashdotted...
Every geek wants one of these, you output it to your pc! http://www.etoys.com/exec/search.cgi?keyword=QX3+C omputer+Video+Microscope+&store=e&emp=et &header=
I'm anxiously awaiting the Boxee Box as well. Is there a release date? Last I read it was suppose to come out in Q2 of this year.

I feel like I'm in The Zone when we're playing mad 4 player Tekken Tag for hours.
whoohoo now I can sell my unused shrinkwrapped Windows 2000 and XP CDs on Ebay without them ending the auctions prematurely for copyright violations!
I never understood why they remade Evil Dead? Can someone with some insight enlighten me?
Thanks,
Nasser

Where can I get my copy?
Anyone have any idea what Mitnick used to encrypt his software? Something tells me it wasn't the encryption built into pkzip...
