Esp. considering the massive amount of material that was written in the Federalist Papers(though not written by Jefferson, a large # of them were penned by his protege Madison) about the rights of minorities and how the Constitution was SPECIFICALLY written to enshrine the rights of the minority against the tyranny of the majority. The writers of this law either seem to be ignoring that or ignorant of that fact, neither would surprise me considering it is Texas we are talking about.
FWIW, I consider myself to be at least fairly knowledgeable of basic American history AND I was educated north of the Mason-Dixon line, I don't consider those two things to be coincidental.
Hell even a telephone poll, provided they picked landlines out of a phone book are increasingly less representative of the population as a whole. Young people are abandoning land-line phones to go cell phone only, most of them unlisted. I wonder how the pollsters are adapting to these demographics.
Hell, I have been considering even getting rid of the phone part of the cell phone and going data only, with Skype et al, is there even any point in paying the $30 or $40 a month for voice service?
I must be some hater boy, given the fact that I have no less than 5 apple branded items sitting right in front of me.....I love Apple and Steve is an amazing person, but he is in fact a person, not a god. He has flaws like every other human being and being petty and spiteful happens to be one of them. Hell, I'm petty and spiteful and yet I don't even have a fraction of the success Steve has....
Steve is known to hold a grudge a really, really long time based on reports from those around him, and I think he has had Adobe in his sights for a while. Now that he finally has a weapon, the popularity of the iPhone OS, he is going to take every opportunity to wield it against Adobe.
It wasn't too long ago that Adobe used to love the Mac platform, they would release most of their tools on the mac either at the same time as the windows release or often before it. However, a couple of years back things started to change and the Mac platform was no longer Adobe's buddy. They released a 64 bit version of CS 4 for windows, but the mac version was 32 bit only(though largely thats because of a dick move on Apple's part, scrapping 64 bit Carbon GUIs right before Leopard was due to be released). After Apple released Aperture Adobe came out with Lightroom which only furthered Steve's ire.
Steve can come up with a billion supposedly technical reasons why they shouldn't use Flash on the iPhone, but it really all boils down to the fact that Steve hates Adobe and is trying to get back at them in any way he can.
And you obviously failed the reading test, I was, now I know you are only in 3rd grade but I think you can handle this word, CONTRASTING Apple's prices in Japan and Europe. Now I know its your naptime, so please try to think of this word and remember, always READ before you POST!
For those complaining that Apple screws over it's non-US customers, take a look at the apple store Japan. Despite the really strong yen most things in the Apple store in Japan cost about the same(esp. when you consider that the 5% tax is already included) as they do in the US store, while those in Europe tend to cost a lot more.
Obviously part a big part of the discrepancy is the sales tax, but doing business in Europe just plain costs more. Shipping from China(where most of Apples stuff is made) to Europe is obviously more expensive than shipping to Japan or the US(largely because there isn't really a direct sea route), but thats only part of the reason.
European consumers and employees tend to enjoy a lot more protections under the law then those in the US and Japan. For instance tt costs more to hire(and fire) the European workers that man the warehouses and shipping facilities, Apple is responsible for paying to properly dispose of all electronics it sells, European consumers can make Apple pay for a much wider range of repairs to products then can consumers in the US or Japan etc.
Not saying whether or not these protections are good or bad, but many Europeans don't seem to realize that they certainly aren't free. If you want these protections then you are going to have to be willing to pay for them, otherwise if you want them then stuff is going to cost more, end of story.
So essentially what you want is D&D? No single player game is going to allow you to do what you want where you want because unfortunately the AI isn't all that advanced and won't be in the foreseeable future. If you want an open ended game where you can do anything, grab a bag of dice, a dungeonmasters guide and start creating some characters!
All they need is a decent web comic. Seriously the quality has dropped considerably in the last couple of years as it seems the comic is just an afterthought, they occaisionally put their heart into it and make a brilliant comic but for the mostpart I don't even chuckle anymore.
It is in the US because a lot of states have sales tax that doesn't get charged when you buy online, however in places like Europe and Japan that have a national sales tax a lot of the advantage disappears.
But if you use your goat to buy an iMac, how will you pay your doctor? But then again, I guess since Japan is among those countries that actually makes sure everyone has cheap health insurance(though it's not single payer like the Canadian system), they might not have to worry about it as much as that other country that unfortunately thinks "Republicans" are a good idea.
Apple doesn't really seem to care about a lot of it's "core" customers anymore. Look how long it took to update the macbook pros and they are selling mac pros that came out 14 months ago for the same price that they sold them for when they came out. Somebody better tell Apple that in the tech business, 14 months is looooooooong time.... Furthermore they are letting a lot of the pro apps waste away and supposedly the "world's most advanced operating system" doesn't even have support for shit like TRIM despite the fact that 3/7 of the computers Apple ships have options for SSD cards(macbook air(another neglected machine), macbook pro, and xserve). They also don't offer SSD options for the iMacs, and people have gone to great lengths to install them in their iMacs(most people take out the now almost useless optical drive, but Apple makes even doing that as painful as possible)
Now they are striking at customers who buy Apple stuff online(more than likely to be the pros, you ever try to lug a mac pro on the train? I cannot imagine it would be fun....) All so they can hype some overpriced consumer toys just a little bit more.
I used to be a huge Apple fanboy, but unfortunately Apple is proving the trolls that say "Apple is only an image company"
Apple, you are alienating people that have stood by you for a long time and are the most likely to remember how you snubbed them. Your gadget customers have no problem leaving Apple at the drop of a hat, and next time the latest and greatest shiny comes out from one of your competitors you won't have your pro base to fall back on anymore.
They also have surprisingly good food(even if you cannot get a cheeseburger:P) and hot women roaming the country with assault rifles slung around their backs, what more do you need?
Essentially HTML is the world's biggest legacy system. The problem with finding a replacement is that everyone in the world uses HTML, thats a consequence of what state the technology was in when the internet took off. Even if you could find a replacement, convincing everyone to switch over is a pretty gargantuan task, esp. when you factor in the chicken and the egg issue, you aren't going to get people to switch to your platform of choice unless there is content, but content producers aren't eager to port everything over to a system with very few consumers.
95+% of the time you can, but the problem is with something high stakes like driving you always have to be on the lookout for the unexpected. You cannot maintain full situational awareness while multi-tasking, thats that. If you want to text or eat or do whatever during your commute, just take the bus. It's what I do.
Thats due to the fact that unlike video game consoles, health insurance is not a free-market product, as much as the health insurance industry and republicans would like people to believe. If Sony screws me over, I can buy Nintendo or Microsoft or stick with good old fashioned PC gaming. If my health insurance provider screws me over, there is almost nothing I can do.
Yeah, but the protections are not totally without cost. Europeans always complain about the price differential between the American and European markets, but a big reason for this differential is that its just plain more expensive to do business in Europe. So you either get more protections or cheaper products, you cannot have both.
it actually grew in a much more organic fashion and a big part of it was how the culture attracted the people, not how the people attracted the culture. Having a government "plan" a silicon valley is like trying to cook by throwing all the ingredients in a pot, turning on the heat and hoping for the best.
Considering how many civilians would have died in Japanese held territories had the war dragged on further, yes its fair. And before you say, "The Japanese would have given up anyway", bear in mind that even AFTER the atomic bombs were dropped there was still a huge faction of the military that wanted to continue fighting. In fact the night before the emperor's surrender speech was broadcast a group of them tried to occupy the palace and tried to find and destroy the recording. They were not successful and Japan surrendered.
No, as Google doesn't have a worldwide retail presence like Apple does. Most of those employees work for Apple retail(and a smaller amount for Apple manufacturing, something that Google doesn't do at all).

Damn robots with their sagging cases, showing the whole god damn world their CPUs. Get the hell off my lawn before I call Bruce Schnier on your asses!

I kept on telling people that the Luxembourgians were a military threat, but nobody listened to me until it was too late.

So maybe sex in the server room IS a good idea! Not to mention all the puns you can make about racks.
