How long will the Chinese people tolerate this stuff? They have to meet with their Western colleagues, and explain that they may not be allowed to visit a certain internet sight, see a certain movie, etc. because their government doesn't think they can handle it.
Dude...they spent six...BILLION...dollars on this thing.
It should work. It doesn't. It sucks.
The first symptom that something was wrong with their development process would probably when they spent six...BILLION...dollars building a computer OS.
You know, I have to admit, as much as I like this seeing the light of day, it scares me to have Congress so...involved...in these technological affairs that they cannot, really, possibly all understand.
I know plenty of hot young IT geeks who don't really "get" the bigger picture, let alone a bunch of technophobic Congrescritters...
I think it is time to start having a serious national (and worldwide) discussion about the nature of information and who has the rights to what. I mean, after all, a satellite is in some ways no more than a glorified helicopter when it comes to surveillance. On the other hand, controllers on the ground build a database of what it's seen, so that events can be traced back in time.
These issues are obviously only going to become more common, and it would be nice for once to anticipate moral and ethical issues ahead of time, instead of waiting for someone to abuse it as we usually do.
Pfah. Unions are not killing the country--just the car industry.
While I agree that the car industry unions took it too far for a while, what we badly need is more unions, not less.
Or do you think fry cooks are fairly paid and treated? Or retail clerks? Or the teams of guys that mow lawns at apartment complexes and office buildings? Or almost any other blue collar work?
If you work 40 hours a week, you ought to be paid enough to live--period. And that lack of living wages is what is killing the country.
Have they fixed it to where it doesn't steal focus and give me a headache when rendering pages?
This is why I use Opera, but Opera has it's own issues. I'd rather use a Free tool. But I almost have a psychotic break whenever a browser steals the focus from the URL bar when I'm typing in there, just because the page has finished rendering. This keeps me with Opera for now...that and the dumbass file Save interface.
I question their ability to attract the best hackers. Military culture is kinda sorta the complete and total opposite of geekdom. It is encouraging that they realize that some culture change on their part is necessary, but change comes very slowly to the military (with good reason! who wants a flaky military?)
Yet another way that the Linux based OS's are actually, qualitatively superior to Windows, even for normal people. Since we don't have to worry about licensing, we can just, you know, work, and do stuff for you because we like you.
What a thrill...downloading a pirated Vista service pack...what could be more rewarding than pirating a patch for that crappy OS, wether the original is legit or not?
How could they be a hypocrite for not releasing that code if they ARE helping the open source movement with their lawyers and stuff? They're only a hypocrite if they take and take and never give anything back, which they do. They don't have to give up EVERYTHING they could just to not be hypocritical.
If you're not actually shaking down the vendor, it's not blackmail. I mean, if you get a piece of information, are you obligated to inform anyone?
It is sleazy, don't get me wrong, because what other reason would someone other than Real want to purchase the information except to do no good? But I'm having a hard time feeling sorry for Real, because they suck so fucking bad. I keep trying to replace them in my mind with some company I like to analyze the situation, but it just keeps switching back to Real.
I mean, it's not like someone's going to get killed or anything. Unless, of course, Putin wants that done.

It's embarrassing.

heh, it wasn't their marketing, but the fact that the DRM is stronger. That's what won the studios over, period.
Nah, it's Libertarian, not Republican.
In other words "real" right-wing, as opposed to batshit crazy pretend right wing.
It's much simpler and more humane to simply play classical music kinda loud.
Also, I'm 36 and I can hear all kinds of ultra high pitched stuff. So they're driving me and my money away, too.

Why on Earth does Microsoft care about this?
Are their interests so absolutely identical to Hollywood's? I mean really?
And do they "lose" so much from "piracy" of their software that it warrants this type of douchegaggish behavoir?

Ron Paul is the wrong spokesman for freedom--he doesn't come across as credible.
I'd vote for him--but joe sixpack never, ever will.
My second choice (for liberty) seems to be Obama.

Bah. Bill Gates, the richest man in the world, is just PO'd that people are stealing from him. That's it.
Hmmm, they could provide a reasonably priced, reliable product that people actually want to buy?
No no, you're right, that's not an option.
What you said is a classic false dichotomy.

Apparently Samsung went to the Microsoft school of enraging their early adopters.
BTW if you are one of the early buyers of my game, I will not shit on your face. In fact, I will do my best to be friendly, supportive, and civil!
It's not a custom font. It's one of the choices you have under posting.
As if they would allow custom fonts, here....
Now we can finally start closing the so called "garotte gap" with the Russians.

Hey, the richest man in the world thinks you're stealing from him. Try to be sensitive.

..is not to make money. Anyone who says government should be run like a business should be shot.
Right on. Right on the money.
Still, my money's on them buying the moldy burrito another poster mentioned.
Hey, thanks for that analysis. I'll definitely go check it out!
