They name the cards based on the GPU version. This is the Geforce 7 chip. This also isn't going to be the end-all, super-hi Geforce 7 as I would assume an Ultra version is to be released with a price tag that includes an arm and a leg.

Ok mods, grow some brains here. He is speaking the truth.

McQuaid was the biggest proponent of "hell levels", xp grinding etc. Verant was the big pusher for all of that stuff. Once Verant was absorbed into the giant known as SOE things changed.

Hell levels were dropped, you could med without staring at your book, xp bonuses were granted etc. That was why Brad left. He thought Sony was making the game entirely too easy. His "vision" (TM) is to have you sit at your machine for years to reach that highest level or finish the hardest quest.

  14. PC Game Market On Decline on ATi's Multi-GPU CrossFire Graphics Card Unveiled · · Score: 1

That is quite contrary to the latest issue of PC Gamer.

In the July issue (with Civ IV on the cover) they do an Eyewitness report on a game developer's conference. One very vocal developer talks about how most game developers simply view the PC as the "4th console" and as a result most of the games are designed around dedicated consoles first before being ported to the PC.

While the PC still has some dedicated games (Far Cry, Half Life 2, EverQuest, WoW etc) most games are now just being ported over. IE - the PC Gaming market is losing ground against the console market.

why not professional? i am a windows technician (currently learning solaris 5.8 and red hat 9 support) and i refuse to support anyone's machine that runs XP home.

if you're going to go with windows at all, go with xp professional. choosing home over professional is a lot like choosing ME over 2000.

'Only question now is not if but when will Linux become the number one OS on earth?'"

Sorry but it is not going to happen. Linux needs to grow away from MS and stop comparing itself to it. The more I read about how Linux can compare to MS (let alone 25 years ago) just leads me to believe more and more that Linux will keep copying Windows until Microsoft goes out of business. What happens then?

If Linux is to come out on top it needs to be more innovative and less whiny about Microsoft. Seriously. The entire "whine" (TM) factor needs to go the way of the dodo. It is a great turnoff to those of us that are considering Linux but are reluctant to leave MS.

Try using all of these programs:

    Microsoft Anti-Spyware

Those are 4 programs I run regularly. I usually do these in this order:

    1) Update all definitions in all programs
    2) Reboot to Safe Mode
    3) Run Add/Remove Programs and remove any unknown programs
    3) Run AdAware, remove all infected files
    4) Run Spybot, remove all infected files
    5) Run Anti-Spyware, remove all infected files
    6) Run HijackThis, remove all non-system files (only run this if you are an expert at it)
    7) Clean out Internet Explorer Cookies
    8) Clean out ALL temp files
    9) Clean out all unknown files in the Windows & System32 directories (again, expert only)
    10) Reboot (pick safe mode again)
    11) Run all of the scanners again to be sure of removal
    12) Reboot into normal mode, run scanners AGAIN (to verify)

Obviously if malware comes back shortly (within 10 minutes or so) check Services (start --> run --> "services.msc") and remove any that you don't recognize.

The only piece of malware that I haven't been able to remove was a variant of CoolWebSearch. Not even CWShredder got rid of it (or even detected it) as well as all of the other cleaners.

    Good luck.
