  1. Re:Ken is smart on Ken Jennings Gets a New Challenge · · Score: 5, Interesting

I was on Jeopardy when they came through Miami about 8 years ago or so. I lost bad. This sounds so stupid but, I am considered by everyone I know to be the "smartest" person they know. Even with trivia and general knowledge, as much as computers. It is hard to think that quickly, under so much stress. Not to mention the other two people are the smartest person thier friends know. What Ken Jennings did was amazing.
What are the odds they put on the best there is and ever will be, right after the end of the 5 day format? (any stat hounds wanna take a stab?)
I truly doubt that the others stand a chance against him. I know I wouldn't, and I made the show.

I should have studied foods that start with the letter Q.

Simple...Your love of using your own hidden 1337-like code gives you away. Surely you don't expect us to believe you accidentally substituted w's for v's when you wrote "beliewe" in your slashdot post and "wery" instead of very in The Anti-1337 Manifesto. It must be intentional, the v is like way down in B'sville. Seriously, you almost got me.

My point is if you think your writing and English skills are below average, never mind far below average, you don't have even an inkling of what average really is.
Slashdot draws a crowd that would be considered brighter than average, the parent post is average.
Completely unrealated, I saw an article in a Connecticut newspaper about Pearl Harbor Day. 8 of 20 people knew what it was. A woman was quoted (and named) as saying she didn't know where Pearl Harbor was or why "It has a day."
Here is the kicker: I lean over to the guy in class next to me (a college course), and say "Wow imagine if you were pointed out in the paper as being a world-class dumbass?" and showed him her quote.
His reply: "How could anyone not know that's the day Hitler died?"
    I didn't say anything.

    Consider the following:
Yes, the Bay Area is expensive....but there are a lot EA employees in the Orlando, FL region as well
You say They start coders out at 60K? You can buy a very, very, nice house in FL for under 120K, and the standard of living is extremely low.
Unless your a married person with a family, it seems like a pretty good opportunity.

Adrian, Greetings in Ireland, I was born in the States, my parents are from Co. Armagh (Hanlon). I think it boils down to FUD; Fear that an attack is "imminent", uncertainty about John Kerry's ability to "stand up" to the EU (Americans think that is important due to a narrow world-view), and doubt caused by an overwhelming bombardment of conservative viewpoints. Facts are facts, and Fox News owns the largest market share, and the Rush Limbaugh/Ann Coulter shows outnumber the Frankens 10 to 1.
