    The largest society that non-neanderthal DNA has produced without major intervention from neanderthal infused cultures didn't even reach Aztec complexity even though population densities have been large enough quite often. It is quite probable there is a genetic component that influences social interaction.

    Automatic is "easier", but you lose a great deal of control over the amount of torque and horsepower at any given time. Manual allows for much finer control. Thus, you got your car analogy exactly backwards.

    I've gotten Best buy to refund my money for a game, but that was because X3:Reunion had one of the nastier versions of Starforce on it. Pre-installation, WoW and TF2 ran flawlessly, post-installation they both lagged and skipped like an advanced Parkinsons patient playing hopscotch. Put up enough of a stink about how they're selling a product that wasn't advertised as having said software and they gave me my money back.

    Unless the non-compete agreement specifically notes streaming game services, Square will have the upper hand in their tort. You don't buy games from onlive, you rent server time. It's more like remotely dialing into a server cafe than buying an games.

    Of course, there's the fact that your military and France's combined don't even have the ability to control the airspace of the third world country that entirely controls your supply of ultra sweet crude oil for more than 2 months without running out of munitions. That doesn't even consider that you decided to get rid of all your aircraft carriers and depend upon the french for carrier platforms until what, 2016? You think your health care scheme is so grand, fine. How about America withdraws entirely from western Europe and says that Britain, France, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, and Germany are ripe for the plucking for anybody who cares to do so and we will offer exactly ZERO assistance to them. We'll continue guarding Finland, Poland, Georgia, and the Ukraine of course, but will allow the Russians and any other interested parties passage through said territories for a small fee. Moreover, any pharma corp that deals with any of the above countries at prices under what the drugs command in the US gets all their assets seized. Be fun to see the fallout from that particular maneuver.

    You're assuming that IQ is a proper measure of fitness on a racial scale, which is relatively unlikely. Although, that extra one percent, given that research is cumulative, means that over time(centuries to millenia, to be specific) the 1%ers would be vastly outstripped in the knowledge race. More likely however various socialization tendencies expressed though interbreeding with neanderthals allowed for greater voluntary non-monkeysphere cooperation.

    My first call for the chopping block is the department of education. Followed by the TSA, most of BATFE, and massive entitlement cuts. Then set up a larger, fully science oriented version of DARPA. The fact of the matter is even if we cut military spending entirely and then somehow managed to avoid any adverse effects to our economy, we'd still be running deficits every year.

    It does sound better. Technically it's a slightly less 'faithful' reproduction of the sound, but the interference introduced by the tube amp is pleasing to the human ear.
