Torture works quite well, but it requires two things. First, that you ask the right sort of questions(questions with no lead in to specific individuals unless it's one the subject has mentioned, along with various other pitfalls to avoid) and second, that you concentrate on intel you can once you have the initial seed corroborate with other sources.

We still don't know how the mind works, because these people were in a perfectly safe situation and KNEW IT. Now, if they had pretended to have been doing another experiment and then shoved them off the ledge suddenly, the experiment would have been valid. As they did not, a crucial difference(that of possible threat to life) between the experiment and most car accidents is present.

They would then have to give sub-batches of these kids pretty much the exact same upbringing otherwise. Only then could they claim any real damage.

The Geneva Conventions(at least the original ones) only apply to uniformed enemies who abide by the rules of war. The additional protocols are not applicable to the US Military or Government. Britain did no such thing, instead relying on technology like the flipping Sten gun. THAT is why Britain was consistently able to outproduce the Germans.
