This summer had the worst movies that I've ever seen. Other summers had interesting Pixar movies. This summer had, chickflicks, lame action movies and uninteresting comedy.
I want real reasons and none of that "better experience" crap. Stuff such as "Better Payouts", "less ads about spyware", "better optimized displaying technique" or any feature that would allow more liberty (Read AdSense's TOS carefully, you'll see what I mean)
And finnaly, I would want a username that goes by the name of "MSNGuy" to reply to this!.... What? Google has it already!
Earlier this year, the WoW servers were encountering numerous problems. Some servers crashed and the load was so high that you even has to suspend new subscriptions for a short while.
So, how does today's WoW server infrastructure look like? Did everyone take precautions? Do you use a load balancing system to equal the loads? Did you create more optimized patches? What kind of server hardware do you use?
Can someone please tell me what happened back in the time? It seems that in this new millennium of ours, we're more and more dependent. Let me show you what I mean:
Today, we always try to sue people. Sue, sue and sue. Sue McDonalds for selling food that's not good for you, suing some salesman because you were too ignorant to see that it was some kind of fraud and now you want to sue the video game makers? P-l-e-a-se!
I think that people are intelligent enough to make their own decisions. Kids should learn how to behave and normally shouldn't go on "rampages" because a game somehow "INFLUENCED" him to do so.
This is a pretty nice news for the Linux community to know that another gadget has chosen Linux as their base system and kernel for the embedded device.
But, I think that Linux handheld manufacturers should take the next step: make it easy to access Linux.
That's right! Why not another section in the manual that could tell how to access the shell? The manufacturers could gain even more people (geeks) to buy the product because no moding would be needed to access the Linux under the whole interface.
Oh, come on, we need companies to urge to do so. It would be a gain to them and to the community.
Microsoft is one of the biggest companies in the world. They have many employees, many products and many shareholders.
So putting on such a big project such as Windows on Open Source would seem ridiculous both for Bill Gate, its executives and all the shareholders out there. It is Microsoft's job to please these shareholders: to wipe the competition apart and to build more and more profit.
Here's another topic that we should "openly" discuss: profits. Where is Microsoft going to get profits? Oh sure, the company has a lot of money in stock, but it cannot continue working in losses instead of profits. They could make money by offering technical support, but they can make even more money by offering their Windows products!
Never the less, I think that this is an interesting vision. And this could happen in the future when another operating system would attempt to take over Windows (Oh please! Someone make this happen). It would sure be very interesting to see how Windows could be improved and what a great product it could become. But until then, Microsoft will continue to offer a closed copy of their products.
I like Skype and MSN Messenger over Yahoo's voice for several reasons:
First, Yahoo does not always transmit voice. So there is that weird silence when nobody is talking. I better like hearing the backround noise because it makes you feel more "emersed".
Secondly, voice quality of MSN Messenger and Skype depend on your microphone and Internet connection. I recall calling a 56K user and having near-32bit quality. Another time, I've called a radio station (which had an excellent microphone and a decent Internet connection) and the quality was astounding (at a whopping 128kbps)!
MSN Messenger, only has two quality modes. I call them good and bad. The bad quality will mask some backround sound and transmit at 32bit, while the good quality even goes beyond Skype, many times. Of course, because of Microsoft, proper connection detection fails at multiple times and sometimes the voice simply does not work!
Now, let's get on a bad side of Skype (uh oh!) Skype uses quite an abundant percent of CPU compared to other programs. On a 800MHz computer, Skype takes up a whopping 80% while MSN remains at a low 5%. This is bad if you're trying to play some FPS game togethor or surf the web. Skype is preservative on bandwidth, though.
On the alternatives side, we have the usual VO-IP programs used by gamers and communities: Ventrilo and TeamSpeak. I prefer Ventrilo as it's quality can be comparted to MSN Messenger, but TeamSpeak is a bit preservative and goes at a way lower quality. Both these alternatives are excellent when chatting in groups.
So, to conclude:
Skype Advantages
o Conference support
o Great quality
o Stable and reliable
o Nice interface
o Multi Platform --- Yay for Linux support!
o Low bandwidth consumption
o Bypasses firewalls greatly (I've tested with many corporate firewalls and Skype knows it's way around it!)
Disadvantages
o High CPU usage
o Not excellent for 56K connections
I have to say it, I agree with that.

Better luck next summer...
Put fan filters on all of your fans! They cost around $1 and do a good job.
Steve Jobs screamed nano!
I know it's lame but it's the best I can do for such a short ammount of sleep!
"p2pnet is reporting that two more single mothers are... "
Hmm... Is this some sort of message saying to geeks that they are "looking"?
Damn,
It's getting cold down here.

And why would I want to use it?

I bought my last CD in 1998.
:-)
I've got this awesome website which fill in all my needs. www.shoutcast.com
I've also been wondering for the same thing. I now was with a long disputed battle to leave on a 30watts 800MHz P3 always on.
This server is now, my storage server and also acts as a mirror for Fedora Core on their torrent (makes my connection useful).
So I want to know what slashdotters will suggest!
Imagine a Beowulf cluster of these!
Oh wait...
Yah! Now I can get my stats back up. /me cracks knucles
Ouch that hurt... Sun's spirit will always be amongst us.
In Northern Siberia, you are refreshed until you are slashdotted!
Yeah well, don't make me refresh YOUR site!
Glad you asked...
/. But not 503 ones. After one or two page refreshes, it starts working!
I've been getting 500 errors the whole morning while trying to reach

Hold your horses!
August 2006 will be Windows XP SP3.1
And August 2009 or so will be Vista
I guess that Longhorn was just BillG's fantasy...
They're just a bunch of 14 year olds playing Counter-Strike and "pwning n00bs".
Very complicated stuff, I must admit.

I think judge has a good case.
Case closed.
(Well, not really...)

Sorry, but I would just prefer having some advertising instead of paying a few cents per search.
