It's more or less reliving an era than a teaching tool. However, like most things it's all up to you on how you want to use it. Some folks want to no only learn how to make games, but to see how they were made back then. And to be honest, this system is a bit more powerful than something out of 70's. Just vist the home page and snoop around a bit, I can think easily of some old school snes/genesis games that could be remade on that.

I'm not concerned. First off, if anything, China pushing hard to become reigonal/world power. To do that they need to compete with the United States on multiple fields. My concern now is if the United States can compete with China. This is a country that is aiming to put us in our "place". That is, not leting the US get away with it's current phase of overbearance. Hell people that I know are scared we are turning into a stagnat empire, instead of the republic that we are suposed to be. If "free" market practices are what you believe in, the US must stop diddlying around and start competeing.

Yes I read the RTFA, Yes it allows to play other formats, but will the quality versus space used be the same ? Will it even be simular ? I'm not an expert at compression techniques and/or standards. If you know something I don't (by the way that you put it, sounds like you do) please do inform us.

  15. Incrediably Short sighted on Microsoft Codec Required For Blu-Ray Players · · Score: 2, Interesting

I can't help to think that this is incredably short sighted by said companies. They go through all that trouble to create a new format, and then dictate that the compression method used is propriatary, and currently non-standard. It's not about Microsoft(!?), this is about clear and common sence: If you use a propiertary format, don't you think that the owner will charge some kind of royality fee for the useage ? This could only make this more costly, and less attractive to future users of this. Clearly this is akin to shooting one's self in the foot, let's not even get started with OSS trying to keep up on this format too...
