I used to be in the USAF a few years ago... in some of the basic training mess halls at Lackland AFB they have some rather incrediable paintings of what the USAF was going to be doing in space - millitarizing it for US interests of course. This whole space thing is a sham - It's more about orbital bombing with the kinetic equivilent of metors & X ray lasers/next generation nuclear weapons than exploration. It's shameless.
I personally believe that they should just give citizens & consumers more rights for fair use, wireless access (allowing companies & individuals or the local/state goverment to create MAN in cities without interferance from companies), and other rights. Perhaps set up DRM guidelines that allow for DRM compatiablity between competetors etc. I say it again, they need to give people more rights for the media and bandwith they purchase.
While it may not be an iPod "killer", I find that it plays the AAC format, and as for storage there is supposed to be a 8 GB card for it (the biggest I saw for sale was half that). My biggest complaints of these other portables is that they do not support the AAC format. That is a huge stickler for me and I imagine other people also that unknowingly ripped most of there music collection using iTunes.
We will soon enough run into the same problems with nuclear power that we're running into with coal power. Such plants still consume very finite, non-renewable resources, and produce a significant amount of pollution.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breeder_reactorUntrue - Pay close attention to the thorium breeder - there is 3x as much thorium compared to uranium. It stands to reason that if you have an balance of reactors that produce fissionable elements, and reactors that use them, theorize that a significant amount of waste produce can be used as fuel.
Perhaps this will spur quicker r&d for a better space plaform than the aging (explosive) shuttle (which wasn't much of a "shuttle" really, more like a rocket/plane/glider hybrid. By the way, the saying the more complex the plan(s) the more oppurtunity for catastophic error). Who knows. Makes me want to build my hibern^H^H^H^H^HFantatistic method for seeing my flying cars.
There is no magical development wand that can be waved and all of Microsoft's problems would be solved. This isn't a Linux project where every user personally works on and personally customizes their OS either. The most obvious solution for Windows to take is simple, 'if it isn't broken (enough), don't fix it (yet)'
This the crux of Microsoft's problem, such an enviroment leads to stagnation - they can no longer innovate in this area. Unfortunaly (or fortunatly) this means that unless they take a significant risk, there OS is not going to be revelant in a few years. On that note, it makes me wonder, who FOSS programers are going to look to for what passes as "common" items/funtionality in a modern destop enviroment. OS X Perhaps ?
It's only reasonable, considering the time and effort that this guy put into the program... wasn't ibm pushing out money to linux ? Stuff like this should be funded.
if I could get away with it, I would have the "no name" guys do it, a small hardware shop should be able to do it in a week if they really want the biz (and trust me they do!)
This is one of the first thoughts that come to me, as well as other transparent surfaces... How about computers that the display is the board ? many possiblities I see with this.
That's my burning question, I rather uses evolution than thunderbird. On my winbox, however it IS my client of choice. I think the fact that evo comes with a calander function (like the up coming sunbird), is what grabs me. However I am a bit dissapointed that they did away with the summary page with all the rss feeds;)
You don't understand, they teach them to code ADA, which the last I heard, was just about only the american millitary used.
You are taking me out of context- I consider it a waste of tax dollars to pay a company for something that can be had for "free" and shaped however you want it to be by the millitary's resources. Now they are putting there saftey in the hands of a company that is notorious for not offering a secure, stable system.
that the air force DOES IN FACT TRAIN PEOPLE TO CODE why on earth would they use a "microsoft" solution when there are plenty of open source / free alternatives ? Granted they don't have to release all the juicy tidbits (read: top secret) but this just a waste of tax dollars. In other words, stop traing them for ADA, and train them for C/C++ etc!
If anything I would think that tape based recorders will die... very slowly. There are certain advantages to each storage medium, I would hate to drop a camcorder with a hard drive in it (you don't want to drop one period) but with a harddrive you run the risk of loosing everything, the data AND the equipment, just something that comes to mind.
Of course the could use those "nuclear batteries" featured on slashdot a week or two ago - a large one could in fact recharge the car on it's own over time =D

Imagine if the US goverment/retailers carried this thing ? I would be awesome - there would be no execuse for anyone not to have a computer...
Why not make an Ooo replacement that works off of Mysql instead ? I would love to see something like that.

this would explain why I'm always constantly late!

No but the prospect of vaporizing people seems intresting...wait...
Could this be a way to terra form mars for colonzation over a long period of time ?
Do you have to pay for the upgrade or will it be downloadable ?

god I couldn't stop laughing at that one... lol...
While I know it's legally right, justice has been served - now in the USA, the spamees' spam YOU!

The very Idea of making the basics of farming "illegal". Such acts only serve to make people hate you more.
that read that as "soviet" clothing ?
