On one hand, things like this are very serious, and at least they are fixing the issue. The problem is that while many business continue to use Win2K, Microsoft in my opinion, has shifted its focus to WinXP or 2003, Yet critical fixes are still needed for 2K. Personally, the software curse is in effect here, once you produce something, you have to support it forever. Microsoft has a nice history of dumping products, or "ending support" as they call it.
I speak very broken French. From what I know you would say,
"Qu'est-ce qui se passe, eh?" which literally means
"What is happening?" or in beer-speak, "Wazzzup!"
When he gomes out with a robot with out wheels, then I will be impressed. (It also has to move, no cheating.) Until then, I'm going to be impressed with this and wishing that I had about $1000 to build one of these....
Wow, you mean your normal account is root?!?! You must feel pretty confident that no one will crack your password. Running an account like that in Windows XP is just asking to get digitally raped. Linux may not be crack proof but at least is fairly secure...
Who ever found this must really know what they are looking for. Since it is local though, it just goes to show that strong passwords and encryption are essential, as well as physical box security so Th0Z L33t Hax0RS d0N'T Hax0r yEr B0X0r.
Crap, now where will I get the processors for those cool mini-ATX boards?? They serve a niche market, and should have a sronghold on their market, what the hell??? Really nice of you guys... Huh?? OHHH, YOU have a happy new year TOO?!?!?!
Then I can patent the wheel for my used car dealership. Then I will say, "Look it's a WHEEL!!! It is so cutting edge, I think it might catch on!!!!" Big deal.
Maybe Iam the only erson with this opinion, but I didn't like the books or the movies, I thought they were really boring. The ring is evil, everyone wants it, no one should have it, and how do we monitor the person who does have it??? Let's go find more pipe-weed!!! Seriously, I thoght the entire story should have been a short film. It also maes an annoying amount of drug references. Seriously. "We smoked weed, and now this tree is walking and talking?!?!? What the hell!?!?!"
There seems to be no intelligent life, but there are homeless martians who will clean your car for a buck. Go figure. Interplanetary capitalism is here to stay.
I remember growing up in the late 80's, before sue happy America really got going. I asked for (and got) a woodburning kit for my birthday. I thought it was cool that I could plug it in and get hundreds of watts of raw heat.
Funny thing was, the only warning that the product could start fires (aside from the painfully short 6 foot cord) was that the tip got hot and could cause injury. A single sentence in about six pages of tips and hints on its use.
Ahh, the good old days.......
The old GPL has several gray areas, hopefully the new GPL has more provisions. Updates that improve the quality are always a good thing. Add another kilo of force for the bullet train that is Open Source...
I ve watched CSI from episode 1, to about episode 5. After that, every case seemed to be similar. It's a genius concept for the people who make money off the show, because the stories are based on acutal events, to an extent. It takes less creativity to come up with scientific plots, so the writers can focus on character plot. Another reason it is interesting to me is that many of the cases are similar, yet the show has regular fans. I find it boring.
As for the science, I think it's great that people are interested in forensics, and are learning something, even though the shows are fairly fictional, and some of the evidence tests and processing is invented. CSI is good for the science, but boring as a weekly show.
This was obviously going to happen at some point. It may be somewhat easier for them to crack down on because movie piracy isn't as mainstream as music sharing. My MOM knew how to use Kazaa, but never will be able to figure out IRC or BitTorrent. The mainstream "average joe" may not have a high speed connection or a DVD burner to make it worth his time. However, since the idea behind BitTorrent is that everyone shares with everyone, it may be more widespread than I think. Downloading movies hasn't become "mainstream" in my definition. Many people I asked recently had no idea that movies could be downloaded or what BitTorrent was. I think it is more isolated. Maybe not. Next will be the TV networks, cracking down on those crazy idiots who download entire seasons form unsecure BitTorrent networks, and then sell them on eBay USING THEIR FULL NAME AND ADDRESS, sometimes before the season has even ended! Why dont they just have their paychecks directly deposited into the coffers of the networks, because they will get sued sooner or later. So much for something for nothing...
Beside the point,
Have you any idea how hard it is to find a girl who uses FreeBSD? I know plenty of Linux chicks, but one who uses Unix, she's definately a keeper. Lucky bastard...

Now maybe I'll be able to get one of those high paying jobs they all keep talking about.

Also replying to the other "Unix chick" post, I definately know some Unix five-foot-something "trolls" too. Strange.
