My father gets 59 MPG regularly in his Prius. How does he do it? He accelerates slowly when the light turns green to lengthen the time before the gas engine kicks in, he doesn't try to do hard acceleration up hills, and when he sees a red light in the distance he rolls to a stop (admittedly sometimes to the dismay of the drivers behind him, but it's a red light; why are they in such a hurry to get there?). People assume that when they hop into a hybrid that somehow some magical juju causes them to get better mileage, like some +20 chalice of efficiency. No. You have to learn how to take advantage of the car.
This is absolutely false. Wireless Local Number Portability applies to ALL cell phones. If the customer service rep tell you they can't do it, ask to speak with their manager. They generally don't like doing it because (if you decide to go from post-paid to pre-paid and don't use your phone that much) odds are they'll be generating less profit from you, but if you insist on doing it, they are required to do so.
Nobody who saw what happened (either in person or on TV) would claim that the Tank Man was run down. Either you're just using a straw man or you've been talking to crazy people.
You might be joking, but these days, you're probably a lot closer to the truth than you think. I notice that people younger than me using instant messaging for much longer (using it even in college) than my peers (dropped it when they got out of high school).
Hmm...let's see... if I had to spend $2000 on a Wicked Lasers portable laser, would I pay for a 20mW Blu-Ray laser that's supposed to be cool 'cuz it's blue, or a 300mw green laser that's supposed ot be cool since it can burn through certain materials? Choices, choices...
Of course it matters if it's natural or man-made. If it's man-made, then we should be able to identify what it is we're doing that's causing it, and hopefully stop doing it. If it's natural, then it's entirely possible that we can't do a damn thing about it.
Frankly, I couldn't give a rat's arse if Firefox was an Opera clone. What gets to me is that whenever Microsoft starts heading a bit more in the right direction, the response is more often than not just another complaint without any sort of acknowledgement that MS is at least working on the problem.
Actually most of laptops of the pre-Lenovo IBM T4x series game pretty well without going much over five pounds. I have a T40p and it runs HL2 on almost-max settings like a champ (no AA).
not a spaceship; it was in the basement of some megaplantation in central america. the space merchants was a good book.
GP meant using a RC controller for the Roomba. Cool nonetheless.

I'm not even sure how you get around to arguing about longevity versus price, especially when you don't factor in scale of production.

You're right...when you switch to XP-compatibility, installing the Zune isn't a problem.

Tabbed browsing, integrated search, easier on the resources... why does Firefox look so much like Opera?
I'm not sure the DS would be capable of handling Skype; (sad) as it is, it has difficulty loading and processing web pages on Opera DS.
