While that may invalidate the original contract, that wouldnt give amazon the right to recharge your credit card. It would however allow them to refuse to sell at the lower price, but they still would have to request permission to charge the higher amount beforehand, as an unauthorized charge is fraud. IANAL, but i'm pretty sure once they've shipped they're SOL.

When I worked at Electronics Boutique, we had to go by california state law, meaning if we saw something, we were allowed to tell the person to stop. If that didnt work, we could call mall security. Since nobody, including security was allowed to detain, search, or even touch the shoplifter, the only real options were calling the police or doing nothing. We never called the police.

Knowing that nobody is allowed to touch you or search you, I never let the people standing at the door check my bags. A few years ago I went shopping the day after thanksgiving. By the time I got to the door, I'd been up all night, I'd been standing in lines for >6 hours, I was done. I had about $700 worth of crap I'd just bought in my bags, and I wanted to sit down in the car. I walked around the line of people having their bags checked as they left, past the two employees standing at the door, set the alarm off and kept walking. One of the employees said "SIR!" and I just kept going. If he had tried to stop me I was ready to call 911 and report an assault + my being held against my will.

The first line of the first link you posted says "The law of averages is a lay term used to express the view that eventually, everything "evens out." For example: Two very similar people who drive similar cars in similar circumstances over a long period of time will have roughly the same number of accidents." I'm going to ignore the fact that it was my point, I just worded it poorly.

The second link says "A random event is more likely to occur because it recently happened" and "A random event is less likely to occur because it has not happened for a period of time" are false statements.

Both of those are in the reasoning behind car insurance rates. Meaning saying "the longer you play blackjack without winning, the more likely you are to eventually win" is correct, at least in regards to this conversation; so my point is valid.

Now IANAL, but if the EU has the legal standing to force MS to do anything, MS has the exact same legal standing to make the EU do what it wants too. The only reason they're playing nice at this point is because they still want those customers.

The way it looks to me is the EU is just mad they cant compete with microsoft products, so they want to force microsoft to give up it's secrets so they can make similar software. Also, why does nobody pay attention to the fact that quicktime is bundled with apple OS's? It's word for word the same issue with MS and WMP, but because MS is a higher profile target, they take all the flak.
