  2. I read that in Vietnam and Iraq wars US Army soldiers used AK-47 unofficially, certainly. There many images of US servicemen carrying AK-47.

    An US military instructor wrote that he had a dispute with soldiers of the Afghan army. He could not make them to clean AK-47s. They said that they never clean it and had no problems whatsoever, that it is not necessary.

    But the US instructor knew what he was talking about. As any mechanism it should be cleaned periodically and oiled slightly.

    Birds, at least wild life ones, live in forests, at sea cliffs, etc., i.e. where animals should live. But dogs walk exactly where humans do. Basically we are returning to early middle ages when the streets were used as sewer ditches. Certainly it caused epidemics. Nowadays there are antibiotics, but they will protect us not for long.

    You did not mention that dogs leave unhygienic substances on sidewalks. These substances play a role in spreading dangerous for humans parasites, which cost each of us 3 - 5 years of life time. At least UAVs are using clean electric power.

    There is not a single serious accident involving a drone. The one which you can see on youtube is a fake.

    At the same time about a million and a half people die each year in traffic accidents. http://www.who.int/gho/road_sa... About 20 million wounded. These are the figures of the World War 3, and they continue to grow. And what we see - cars and motorcycles are getting even more overpowered and overweight. Streets and roads are overcrowded by cars.

    At the same time delivery by drones could free roads and streets and save millions of lives.

    My current 1200kg car absolutely emits less CO2 than my previous 750kg car.

    But if you make a fair comparison of two modern similar cars, one 1200 kg and another 750 kg, the heavier one of course needs more energy (fuel) to move. It is Isaac Newton's Second Law of Motion: "Force equals mass times acceleration."

    What SUV weighs 2500kg!?

    Just make a google search for "Toyota Sequoia weight", for example. 6000 lbs is actually about 2700 kg.

    A SUV which weighs 2500 kg emits more CO2 than an VW sedan which weighs 1200 kg. It is clear to anyone who staudied physics and chemistry. No electronics or filters can change it, as the mass (weight) is present in the formula.

    The weight of Trabant is 600 kg. The weight of an average SUV is about 3000 kg, five times more. There is a fundamental law of physics that the more is a vehicle mass (weight) the more energy, i.e fuel, it needs to move. No way around this law, no electronics or filters can change it. An average SUV burns times more fuel than the Trabant, and consequently emits tmes more CO2.

    So in this respect, in the fundamental concept, - yes, Trabant, a light vehicle, is definitly a better idea, than an overweight SUV. The elemtns of its design could be improved, no argue of it.

    It reminds me as there was a talk that only the USSR nuclear power stations are not safe, but the western technogy is of the absolute quality. No one claims it anymore after the Fukishima.

    About 100 people die in the USA in traffic accidents daily, about 500 people seriously wounded: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... . So obviously the US cars are also "left a lot to be desired".

    I pilot fixed-wing and multi-rotor RPAS (remotely piloted aircraft system). I never encountered shooting so far, thanks god, but several times my RPASs were attacked by large birds.

    This was where I understood the importance of a sport flying, and especially the knowledge of the Basic fighter maneuvers (BFM) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

    Knowing and practicing the basic defensive piloting is very useful in order not to hurt a bird and not to damage an expensive RPAS. It is practically impossible for a bird to catch an experienced pilot in the air, I would guess it is about the same for a gunner on the ground with a usual shotgun.

    The radiation at other planets is to high. But oceans are quite livable.

    It is a scientific ship. It is doing a scientific research. We know less abut ocean bottom than about Mars surface.

    There are so many portable SAM missiles out there in the wild, that it makes sense to use an active protection system on civil aircrafts too.

    For example, an IR-decoy flares system. It is small and relatively cheap.

    The ejection seats would also be useful. In case of an Air France crash into the ocean when the airplane just stalled and fell down from the sky, it would save hundreds of passengers.

    Civil Aircraft construction industry is stagnating. It has completely bureaucratized and politicized. There are so many innovations in the aeronautics, and they cannot even find fallen aircraft for years.

    1. As soon as the radio-link with a drone is lost (a fly-away) the drones lands automatically with a warning sound. It is already done on a newer drones.

    2. A drone should be solid only up to manned-aviation speeds. It is about 200 km/h. Above that speed a drone (and all airborne equipment: a camera, a battery, etc.) becomes frangible, i.e. it falls apart in case of an collision like a Lego constructor, so that it is possible to assemble it again later.

    Birds, as opposite to drones so far, do cause manned aircraft accidents, but it is impossible to change birds, as millions years of evolution are required. Birds are not falling apart in a collision and do cause a structural damage.

    I could find only one accident on youtube involving a drone and a manned aircraft. But it turned out to be a montage, a fake video.

    I read that shark attacks on humans are extremly rare, just about a dozen or less per year in the entire world. Could it be that a fear of drones is also a similar phatasm, but even less realistic?

    In my opinion, if a rowdy hurt people with a knife it does potentially make him a good surgeon. Being a good surgeon requires discipline, empathy, education, etc.

    As far as I know not a single test was ever done of a collision between a quadcopter and a manned aircraft.

    All we need is a testing facility and frangible design of civil UAVs. After a collision with the speed of more than 150 - 200 km/h UAV should just fall apart as if made from sand. Problem solved.

    that if a government bans civil usage of drones, the country inevitably and hopelessly falls behind in development of the technology. This is already happening. Chinese civil drones produced by the DJI company are much better technologically than anything US or European.

    The US and Canada plans to increase no-fly areas around airport to 9 or even 20 miles for civil UAVs. It means basically banning civil drones. While there was not a single serious accident yet involving a civil drone. In the whole world, ever.

    At the same time military drones, which should be banned in my opinion, always get green light, even though thousands innocent people were killed as a collateral damage.

    I am not defending GULAG, it was certainly terrible. I just wanted to point that the scale, a quantity, was not that exceptional.
