    ...what happens when the state and federal governments offer 'free' wi-fi, drive the current providers out of business and then start censoring what you can find / visit / do online?

    i like your idea but there is a problem... ...i did the old-fashioned apprenticeship in architecture and am now licensed. when i get the question 'where did you go to college' and i answer 'i didnt' clients think less of me and employers have tried to use it an excuse to give me a smaller raise.

    as a result i am currently working on my masters, a lot of people i know think i am wasting my time. and i am to an extent. but people still want to see that piece of paper.

    i got a pop-up, then added the site to adblock and voila, no more pop-ups (running 1.0.1)

    interesting, on my leet 334MHz celeron 230 MB RAM i have firefox using 18,964K on a slashdot, IE using 15,112K and opera sitting at 18,600K. w/ five tabs in firefox i am at 34,000K... IE and opera have gone doen to 3k and 4.5K respectivley the only problem i have is that firefx has a habit of scrolling the page as it loads. i blame the 2 MB video card...

    ...time to put on your asbestos suits! time for the wars to begin... is linux more secure intrinsically? or because its user base is more knowledgable technology wise? for the record i use xp without a problem, my coworker on the other hand is always having problems. i think the biggest problem is the user, not the softare.

    i dont equate stealing with depriving someone of property only. if someone takes a design of mine or anything i have created and uses it with out permission or claims it as theirs, i still call that theft. even though i wasnt deprived of anything physically. while perhaps offtopic, in general i think that if someone is offering something for a price you should respect that and pay if you want it.

    right, right. that is what i figured, but i guess i also viewed a clean install as what came from the manufacturer because its not an upgrade or anything. my bad. i am one of those people who knows enough to be dangerous and not get owned, but not enough to not make an a__ of myself. thanks for the info.

    to steal is to take something without right or permission. property is something that is tangible or intangible that someone has a legal title to. so yes, he stole that property. you may believe that information cannot be property, but the current law doesnt agree with you. until the law can be changed everyone needs to follow the law or else those fighting to change it have no credibility because they are seen by others (those in power) as thieves.

    by saying that information cannot be property you are opening pandoras box.

    while your point is well taken, the city of denver requires a permit and building inspection when installing a new ceiling fan. also, most ceiling fans come with hardware that mounts onto the bottom chords of two trusses, making it fairly sturdy. but then, how many people get a permit for a fan? and how many are installed properly by do-it-yourself-guy? fan info pdf yeah anyway...

    just installed 0.9 k-meleon and have to say that so far i like it better than firefox. mouse gestures, tabs and a couple other things already there and it is fast... ...the big test will come at home, firefox has an annoying habit of randomly scrolling the entire page down when it loads.

    becuase no one cares if random joe has it. sure it may eventually spread through friends, but if you give stuff to someone who might be (or pass along to someone) on tv or get talked about in a rag like people or us, then you have just hit a larger section of people at once.
