Even if there was a 'horrible outcry' over their 'deception', it's has nothing negative to do with their actual food product, and they'd just have that much more exposure in the media. I totally don't see the problem.

Well, I'm assuming that the lack of a W3C standard for Canvas means that the W3C standard for that is to omit support for it. The original poster I was responding to, almost in the same breath, berated Microsoft for not complying with W3C standards and requested that they comply with a non-W3C one. I don't know much about WHATWG or Canvas, but you can't have your cake and eat it too. Either Microsoft will comply with all the W3C standards or they won't at all, or they'll comply with some. You can't have both A and C.

I reiterate: I am not challenging the validity of WHATWG as a standardizing organization, nor do I have anything against Canvas (nor am I a Microsoft fanboy), but I don't think it's fair to hold IE to impossible expectations.

That's a nice little anecdote. Unfortunately, everyone in the world isn't you, and as such, some people may have differing computer needs. I edit high definition video...a PII-266 wouldn't cut it, nor would your new AMD64 3200+. It's worth it for someone like me to buy a new computer every six months..the tech is advancing fast enough that the latest CPU will be a noticeable upgrade (quad core made a heck of a difference over dual core from six months earlier, for video editing), and the old machine can still find a nice home in a cluster for rendering the effects.

Vonage Canada's website never changed (although I don't know if the US one did or not) when they weren't supposed to take new customers, so I don't know if that means anything either. I'd been considering Vonage for my phone service (those WiFi phones look like a good deal), but this has made me a bit leery. Primus offers service, too...maybe I'll go with them, if only cuz they look like they might live a few months longer than Vonage.

I don't run a lot of graphically demanding stuff, but, then, if you'd asked me five year ago, I didn't have Google Earth and I'd have said I didn't need a GPU at all. The 8600GT looks like a nice card to grab to segue my way into PCI-e cards with something that will probably passably handle most things I throw at it for the next couple years. I'm not expecting monster performance, just better than what I have for the near future. If my needs don't change (watching the specs for Star Trek Online pretty closely), it should do what I need it to do until they come out with AGPCI-ex32 cards for me to switch to.
