Arkansas is no different than any other place in the U.S. You can find rednecks, hicks, and hillbillies, as well as intelligent, educated, even wealthy people in every state in the Union. It's just silly to make "Arkansaw" jokes; not even funny. Urban Arkansas is like urban anywhere, and rural Arkansas is like rural anywhere.
At least try to be creative.
I think you mixed that up a bit, let me correct it. Urban Arkansas is like urban Wisconsin. It is nothing like LA, New York, Detroit, etc...
I don't doubt that you will find of mix of people in each state, be they hicks, rednecks, hillbillies, intelligent, educated, or wealthy. The difference from state to state is the concentration of each group. Until Arkansas decides to improve it's education system so that it isn't one of the lowest in the country, it will have to learn to put up with people assuming it's full of morons.
Arkansas could also loose their image of being filled with racists if they started taking down some of the Confederate memorials. I know the south loves to claim those are there to commemorate the lives lost fighting for state's rights. But let's be honest, they were fighting for the state's right to allow one person to own another.
Laptops wouldn't be a problem if they didn't distract other people. Personally, I found it really annoying when I was in college and there'd be a couple of people tapping away on laptops during class. I can only imagine how bad it is now with a larger number of people doing so.
OTOH, if they're using an interface that doesn't make any noise, I'm not entirely sure what the problem is.
Perhaps it's just because I've gotten used to the sounds of keyboards and computer fans and such, but I don't think it's that hard to tune out the sounds of typing and laptop fans. Unless all of the tapping is drowning out the professor, I don't see the audio aspect of this as an issue.
That said I could totally understand the visual distraction if someone is doing things other than typing notes. If they are going to facebook and looking at photos of friends and stuff or playing a game or something sure, then it's a distraction. But do we need a ban on them? If so, I think we then need to focus our attention on those TV screens in SUVs and minivans. I find those even more distracting.
I'm pretty sure that if someone is successful at staying "off the grid" they aren't going to be dumb enough to buy supplies with a credit card and put themselves "on the grid." The only people this stuff will catch are stupid criminals/terrorists who will doubtlessly get caught without this sort of snooping.
My car's passenger seat has a weight sensor so it will disable the airbag and the seat belt alarm if it doesn't detect more than 30 pounds in the seat. They could easily tie this into the navigation system as well.
Of course the stupid part of my car is that if you have 30+ pounds in that seat, or on it as it folds forward for more cargo space, then the stupid seat belt alarm won't shut up for 5 minutes.
Exactly. I always feel more distracted when talking to someone who is in the car because I have a tendency to want to look at them when we are having a conversation. And is he also going to get those DVD displays removed from minivans? I always find myself trying to identify the movie playing on the minivan next to me.
Perhaps he should focus on creating better public transit options so that less people need to drive. Or perhaps auto-drive technology like in the movies Minority Report and Demolition Man. I'd love to be able to read or play Angry Birds on my way to work while my car took car of the driving.
Okay, I'm a little fuzzy on their math for service life. If it gets 375 miles on one charge that's about 600 km. If it has 2,500 charge cycles before capacity loss occurs, then you should be able to get 1,500,000 km (or about 932,000 miles) out of the battery before it needs replacing.
So where do they get a service life target that is a third of that?
I don't doubt that "Despicable Me" is great in 3D. But I think it and other animated films are the only films where today's 3D really adds anything to the film.
I've seen "Monsters VS Aliens" in 3D at the 3D TV demo set at Best Buy and it looked decent. But not good enough that it really added anything to the viewing.
Everyone always uses Avatar as their example of "good" 3D. Am I the only person on the planet that thought Avatar's 3D was more annoying than anything else. I didn't get a headache or anything, it just didn't do anything for me.
And it's not really 3D. Real 3D would allow someone to see around an object by changing your position relative to it. The 3D being marketed today is mere depth perception trickery.
Microsoft Silverlight is a competitor with Adobe Flash. Neither are supported on the iOS platform. How will this help them team up against Apple? Let them buy Adobe. The only people who that will hurt are the people at Adobe.
Clearly the TIE fighter in the upper left is headed for that small moon in the lower right.

Isn't that what the dog is for?
I've been running the nightly release version for a few months now without issues*. Very fast, great new features.

* I don't run many add-ons so your mileage may vary.
Oh, quit whining. The day of retailers relying on tricking customers into buying overpriced wares is over, deal with it.
Exactly. They are lucky people still go to their stores at all instead of just staying home and price shopping online for the best deals.
Didn't I just see something about this on the Obama episode of Mythbusters?
So you will be constantly using data if these things have 3G or 4G connections? And AT&T though the iPhone used too much data.
And what happens when your internet service is down or you are out of a data coverage area? Kinda useless then isn't it?
To me, this is one of them. Don't you agree? What about if you could make a human-animal hybrid, would you do that?
No, I don't agree.
And it would depend on the animal. Can you say mermaids?
I hadn't thought of it that way. Good point. My apologies to GP post if that was indeed the intent.

Awesome, another theme park filled with imaginary characters.
This isn't Neflix' traffic, it's the traffic of Comcast customers.
And those customers are paying Comcast to transit whatever data they want, not because it's today Netflix and tomorrow YouTube.
So I would see it as a breach of contract between Comcast and their customers when they try to levy toll on individual suppliers to their customers.
Exactly. Where does the Comcast way of thinking end? Are they going to start sending bills to every ISP that hosts a small business with a webserver?
And if their customers stop using Netflix, does Level 3 get a refund?
No but they family will probably sue the company that manufactures the jamming device.

Puddle jumpers? Are those like Gate ships?

Exactly. Why can't the teacher take attendance for each class? How big are the classes at these schools that they need a system like this?
And if their attendance doesn't affect their grade then who cares if they are there? If it does, maybe they'll show up the second time around.
Exactly! Screw making it smaller. Make it weather resistant.
Same here except I never had a PSX or Xbox. My NES, SNES, Genesis, N64 and PS2 all still work. I'm pretty sure my TurboGrafx-16 still works too.

A cruise ship would be funny.
