hahah you nub, you'll spend 2 hours fishing but you cant raid for your epixx?!? You think the fact that you fish in wow for 2 hours makes you any less addicted? Or, the implication that putting all of your time into one character is any more harmful than spreading it out with a bunch of alts. To me your just as addicted as anyone else i still cant get over the fact that you fish for 2 hours, holy christ! Get some epix u nub.
C'mon guys wth is wrong with you nubs, don't you know it takes dedication to level 60 and start the end game. EPIC Loots baby!!!! You nubs that have to work, or have so called "lives" know nothing about epic loots, pshaw this forum is filled with non epic nubs. Whine, whine and quit the game DE your stuff because you can't take BWL nubs. Waaaaa im gonna quit the game because I think i have no life, well mabe that has nothing to do with the game but rather the fact that you are actually a nub at life too. You can sit here and blame the game, blame addiction, blame life, the world and everything in it - but whats the real reason you hate the leets, simple your all non epic nubs....
Me FTW > Nubs.
The songs you purchase from itunes have DRM in them, you can't just burn them to as many CD's as you want. You have a limited number of copies you can burn, I think it's 7. Anything that you manually rip from CD's that you have purchased into itunes can be reripped as many times as you want, which is what the original poster of this thread has said.
I'm not sure why you think that the music you purchase from itunes has no DRM initially and lets you burn a DRM free CD and then magically reverts to having the DRM, I think you need to check your tinfoil hat...
p.s. it most likely got modded up becasue the post was well written and thought out, it is also true.
If something is being "sold" to me under the presumption that I own said purchase, than I will not accept DRM under any circumstances. If I am rented something and paying a fraction of the cost of what it would cost to purchase, then I will accept DRM to some extent. The Problem I have is people confusing, or blurring the line between owning and renting....
How hard would it be to start a company to compete with the RIAA? Also who does the RIAA compete with, is it only independent labels? If so why hasn't anyone tried to for an entity to do battle with the RIAA and there greed lust.
-Everytime I read an article about the RIAA/MPAA I want to purge myself...
Being the geek that I am I'm planning on spending a chunk of cash to build 1 if not 2 HTPC boxes. I really want to use WINHaupauge PCI video cards to capture/encode/decode the TV signals, as well as an HDTV capture card. The dilema I am having is weather to go with MythTV running on Linux as a backend or BeyondTv, or even still Windows Media Center(666) I am finding that WindowsMedia Center is going to be the most painless route to take concderning hardware config. But I really want the power of running a Linux Box, and the flexability that Linux gives. Mind you the only box Im having this dilema with is my Backend which would be doing most of the work. I really want the backend to be linux but I an a *nix newb and it just seems an easier way out to use (666) instead of *nix.
-Could anyone give me some direction/opinions/criticizm on what I should do! Mind you with these boxes Im looking for performance/quality/ease of use as priorities.... Thanks in advance!
-You can certainly use file sharing software on a MAC so being able to "steal" is definately a possibility.
-Spyware none here... Thanks LavaSoft
-Games?? Games, you say? Are you talking about the 11 billion dollar industry of video games?? Because if you are, then you surely cannot deny the impact this industry has had on all hardware sales.
I am a Graphic Artist and a huge gamer. I work on a mac daily and then go home and play games on my PC. I personally like the interface and smoothness of the mac in comparison, but my big problem here are the GAMES!!! I believe Apple missed a HUGE opportunity in shunning the game market. If I could play the same games on my mac as on my PC I would definately have a MAC at home, but thats not the case. Apple left gamers lying in the mud only to be rescued by one Bill Gates and MS. IMHO there would be a much less of a divide between MAC/PCs if MACS were more gamer friendy... Just imagine if Apple bought Bungi, and Halo was released for the MAC first, I think that would have been more significant than the iPod in bringing poeple to the MAC side. So some1 please explain to me, because I fail to understand apple's stance on not making gaming a significant capability of Macs..
I've read better articles on firefox and Interviews with their creators. I found it sad that they didnt include probably the most powerful feature of the browswer that is leaps and bounds ahead of explorer. That feature that wasn't mentioned was KeyWord bookmarks, basicly the association of a keyword to your bookmarks! Imagine using the address bar on your browser as if it were a customizable search engine unto itself. An example is that you can bookmark FedEx.com then right click on it and attach multiple keywords to the bookmark, now if you need to track packeges via fedex.com there is now no need to actually visit the site; all you have to do is type in your address bar: track: (enter tracking number here) and firefox will plug that tracking number into FedEx and immdiately return the status of your package and all pertinent details. The possibilites of this feature are endless and saves so a lot of time that you would be normally be spending on load times from navigating said site. Like I said this feature is so awesome and unique I fail to see why anyone would leave it out when talking about FireFox.
I knew beforehand the tribulations involved with loading the game but I wasnt quite prepared for the amount of time it took to get my game running. Just for some perspective I'm running a Gigabyte P4 Titan at 3.0ghz 512 of ram and an ATI9600 256mb grfx card. My system is fairly new and I have not experienced any problems in any of the new games Far Cry/Doom 3/UT24k/Tribes Vengence etc....
I opened the HL2 box to find 5cds... Why we can't get games on DVD in the most civilised place on this earth is totally beyond me.
-It took about 25 minutes to run through installing all the discs. The first one includes all the Steam(B.S!!) and Counter Strike Source.
-Getting to the irritation..... After the game was all installed and registered including steam which has found an unhappy Home in my SysTray(Dammmnit!!! I hate apps that feel they should be granted a place in my systray!!!) I thought I was all ready to enjoy the much anticipated HL2... Oh how wrong I was... I was in four another half an hour of FARKN STEAM. I tried double clicking on the shortcut to HL2 and Im greeted with an HL2 spash screen giving me about 6 options of things I can do from this point, the first one being PLAY HALF LIFE (ummmm why I bought the freakn game right) So I click that thinking that I would be launced into the game.... NO!!!! Steam decided to wake from its hibernation only to prompt me with "SERVERS ARE OVERLOADED, TRY AGAIN LATER" Well piseed as I am at this point I shut down the splash screen and try launcg the game from the Steam app in the SYS tray, now that got me to where I needed to be.... But wait I was in for another 30min of Steam verifying and actually UNLOCKING my game.... I cannot begin to explain to you how utterly annoyed I was. I mean why even bother designing a HL2 splash screen if it worthless and you have to go through steam anyway! Well the whole thing was a mess and an hour+ after openening the Box I was playing... And man its a beautiful game in every aspect, my only complaints are slow load times, and STEAM!!!!!!!!! I will never play/buy another game that has anything to do with STEAM or the annoyance and complications behind the process. The entire process just seemed entirely riduculous and unneeded.
If you people value your rights, and are cognizant of the direction that we're headed, please don't vote bush.
The Bush administration supports the RIAA's interpretation of the DMCA, but CNN believes that they have "encouraged" the Supreme Court to wait for another day to consider this matter.(arstechnica)
Another day means a day when Bush will pick the next SCOTUS judge... Then... We're all screwed...
I applaud the decision, but this is just the begining! If one thing never ceases to amaze me it is how ignorant the RIAA/MPAA can be. The evils will reform and try different avenues of legal recourse. keep the fight alive!!
That being said if we look globaly at the problem; once an encrypted P2P network exist offshore, then it being accessable to the rest of the world would cause as much threat to the RIAA?MPAA regardless weather or not the majority of US citizens are able to use said service effeciantly.
I echo your thoughts and for that reason find Ballmers comments about iPod user so repulisive. It's issues like this that make me believe that the majority of the world is technically illiterate. IMHO it would be impossible for the MPAA/RIAA to come out with a ruling against P2P without significantly affecting many a tech company I.E. microshaft, as you pointed out the breeding groun or root/starting point for all these "evil" purposes. application is running on the OS. And why not attack M$ for making all this possible? Well I guess becasue you couldnt bend them over without bending over the rest of the world and ultimately bringing the global economy to a screething halt.
Halo Stolen from the PC
on
Halo 2 Goes Gold
·
· Score: 0, Redundant
I love halo don't get me wrong but what really irritaes me is the fact that this game was suppose to come out for the PC first, that's until M$ got in on the action. I might be crying over spilt milk but I truly believe that Halo could have been so much more!
I think the arguement for stealing is sound. If by stealing you imply taking something without paying for it. Imagine yourself walking into a music store 10 years from now still selling cd's and you had an ipod like device that would upload the cds with a simple pass of your ipod.v.2015, you then procede to upload every album in the store without physically taking the CD's . You have deprived the storefront of their proceeds by not purchasing the music you wanted. What would you call the above mentioned action?
OK, these are not my words but they have had me thinking now for a few weeks on the reprocusions of more laws aimed at attacking p2p and the people that use them. What I am going to cut in paste below is a post by my fellow poster on another tech site about the ramifications and consequences that further laws/bills might have. I really respect the community here at slashdot and would love to hear what everyone else thinks about this vision of the future, could this be the consequence of the RIAA/MPAA's action, I certainly think so! Heres the post please share with me your thoughts:
"
Ok first of all the internet is global. Hate to point out the obvious, but this seems something the US congress fails to grasp.
And fine, you can make p2p illegal in the US. Or even the ability to copy CD's, record TV shows, etc. Because honestly the MPAA & RIAA are really just interested in the distribution centers, and the profits made by these distributors.
The internet is a VERY real threat to these types of buisnesses.
So p2p is illegal, and our fair use rights are revoked. Fine great. The RIAA / MPAA have just criminalized their own consumers.
So other than a potential boycott of thier products, you have a global market place, and open source software. Some P2P programs are already offering encryption. I don't know if the RIAA / MPAA realize what they are about to cause. Currently P2P encryption is either broken, or very weak. But that's because there isn't much demand for it. Most of the WAREZ DOODZ still use FTP servers and are generally fairly lax about thier security. Every so often a bust is made which keeps piracy from becoming too wide spread.
Currently I think the model works, pirated content isn't too hard to find, if you want it, but there is quality issues, and the programs are not as robust as the commercial services (iTunes). But at the same time piracy is kept in check with current laws, and is prevented from becoming too rampant (in the US).
Fastforward to 2007. Companies (some in kerplackistan, Russia, Caribbean, whatever) - as well as a few Open Source projects have launched the next generation in P2P applications. These encrypted networks are vast, scores of contributors join, and produce content of thier own. Files are ranked according to completion & quality.
The RIAA & MPAA are helpless, as just to get s subpoena, it costs millions of dollars to rent the computer cluster just to decyrpt the data for one of these P2P users, and there are millions of users. Once a particular checksum is cracked, the encrytion scheme changes, or cypher strength is increased, automagically patched in the background.
My suggestion to the RIAA / MPAA: You don't know how good you have it right now. Necessity is the mother of invention. Give the public, your consumers, a good reason to develope a parallel p2p encrypted network & it will happen faster then you can say Napster."

If i walk up to you with a louisville slugger and take a home run swing for your head, and you die as a result, should louisville slugger inc, be held responsible?
Well how low is low, when I think of low i think 72 DPI. Check out this.PDF posted on themoneyfactory:
http://www.moneyfactory.com/newmoney/files/Glossy- face-web.pdf
That version is definately not 300 DPI but it's higher than 72, and I'm sure you could do a lot with it if you had such intentions.
Ok is it just me or does this seem very hypocrytical. Seems to me they're say. Hey you can't use the technology that you purchased and paid a sales to to uncle sam for to scan in 50dolla bill and put kerry's face on it. But hey, we'll let you download a.jpg image of it. The only difference is that you don't do the scanning. What sense is there in that solution.
Also havent these people learned anything in the past (bypass copy protection while holding [shift]) that these measures especially when widely publicized invite lotsa people to test this new security feature, then bypass it, then leak it out to the public. Now all those secret measures arent so secret anymore because you have millions of people discecting your security, then you have a currency floating around with exploits. Imagine people trading MS windows platforms as currency heheh.
I don't know what I wrote prolly makes no sense and is a bunch or jargon, but is it just me or does something seem strange about the way they are marketing and releasning the new fitty. You can't scan, but you can download.... Things that make me go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
It just bothers me that the government is solving problems by disabling technology instead of leveraging it.
here, here bud, I agree with that statement whole heartidly!!! Do you think its more Bush faschism, or that fact that too many senators are as ignorant as Orin Hatch.

I disagree, from what I've heard is the DS will be a new medium to experience, hence opening up another market segment.
