If you bought Mario on iOS, it means the next game you buy on that system is likely to make Nintendo no money at all. If you bought Mario on 3DS, it means the next game you buy on that system is guaranteed to make Nintendo lots of money. If you want to play Mario but don't want to buy a Nintendo hardware system to do it, you likely emulate your games and make Nintendo no money. Nintendo has no reason to cater to a segment of the market that makes them no money (people who refuse to buy Nintendo products because their friends will make fun of them even though they secretly wish they could play Mario Kart all day).
Listen to what your customers want: Earthbound 3! Old Powerups like Frog Suit! Star Fox! Metroid! Tanooki Suits! 2D Platformers! Pokemon! I want (insert old IP here) in HD with online! Nostalgia!
When you have over 40 unique IPs, "lack of new IPs" is not a problem. "Lack of new IPs" is a buzzword that just started after Skyward Sword when the Wii fell off. It doesn't matter how old Mario is, the customers say "we want Mario!".
The Wii U has complete headset/mic support built-in. Your "Pokemon MMO" idea is stupid. Nintendo just released a new Pokemon game with the most extensive list of online features ever, and it's selling like hotcakes and likely has already made Nintendo $1 billion.
Smash Brothers and Mario Kart for Wii U do have online multiplayer, and obviously the more 1st party titles that get released, the more Wii U consoles they will sell.
Actually, if you buy a 3DS for Pokemon X&Y, you are more likely to buy a SECOND game for the 3DS you already own. And no matter which game it is, Nintendo gets a cut. A bigger cut if you go for a Nintendo-made game, which just HAPPEN to be the highest-quality games on the system.
If you bought a Pokemon game on iOS, the next game you buy might be something like Angry Birds, which makes Nintendo no money at all. And for some reason Apple would get a cut of Nintendo's Pokemon profits, which currently are enormous, and 100% Nintendo controlled.
But then no one needs to buy a Nintendo console, and Nintendo makes LESS money. Plus once you own a Nintendo console for Mario Kart, you are more likely to buy ANY OTHER GAME on that console, and Nintendo gets a % on every game sold, especially if it's a Nintendo-developed game or a Nintendo-published game.
Releasing on iOS or Android means the next game you buy has a high likelihood of not making Nintendo any money. Not sure why people keep thinking this is a good idea for Nintendo. Probably because all those people saying "Nintendo should make games on other platforms" are just Nintendo fans that refuse to buy a Nintendo product because it's not 'cool', and likely emulate SNES games on their PC or handheld device. I see no reason why these people who want to see Mario on Android can't just buy a 3DS, other than "my friends will make fun of me".
That's like the audio version of the complaints people have with HDTV - it looks too real, i can see Brad Pitt's zits, porn looks gross, the sets look fake.
Lazy and/or poor parents using a cheap drink like Coke to stretch a grocery budget for their 5 year olds are also likely to be lazy/poor parents in other ways.
There is also higher teen pregnancy, gang crime, teen homelessness, and teen suicide rates in low income neighborhoods/cities. More graffiti and vandalism too.
But you are right - correllation does not equal causation. That phrase is basically a meme at this point.
It should be obvious by now that for every person who falls on hard times because of society/economy/bad luck, there's a whole lot more that are just lazy and dumb, and raise dumb kids who can't be successful.
From what I can tell playing League of Legends and Call of Duty, well over 80% of video gamers are gay. At least I assume that's why they all call each other fags all the time.
Considering the PS4 and Xbone aren't even out yet, I would say the Wii U currently has dozens more games than either of those. But also - look at the upcoming release lists and you will note that yes, the Wii U does in fact have games coming out for it, like Watch Dogs, and Arkham Origins, and lots of downloadable indie games.
What games do you want that aren't on Wii U? I hear Watch Dogs is going to be pretty good. They've also got this Bayonetta 2 game coming which could be cool. Also I hear Call Of Duty is pretty popular. Or maybe you don't like western games and would prefer some good Japanese RPGs and strategy games?
Just pointing out that Watch Dogs and many other 3rd party games are going to be on Wii U. So far the only games the Wii U isn't getting are EA sports and 2K sports games. They also aren't getting some ports from the 360 or PS3 like GTAV, but the XboxOne and PS4 aren't getting those either.
That is incorrect. All Wii U games are 1080p standard unless the developer just makes a lazy 360 port. Nintendo's published titles will all be 1080p standard.
The Wii U will have the best options for friends coming over to play multiplayer. Mario Kart, Smash Brothers, Call Of Duty, and all the weird party games.
All you need is a PC and a Wii U. Then you can play ALL the AAA high end graphics blockbusters other than a few Sony exclusives (All MS exclusives will come to Windows other than maybe Halo and Forza), and you still get all the living room multiplayer fun of a Nintendo console (and Nintendo's exclusives) along with all the TV apps (like Netflix and Hulu) on the Wii U you will ever need, and your choice of Nintendo E-Shop or Steam for your indie gaming needs. There's really no need for a PS4 or Xbox "Durango", you won't miss much. If you REALLY like gaming, get a 3DS as well, or get one for the kids.
I use a phone to play video for road trips all the time. Just grabbed an audio jack from my phone to the car speakers, and I dont really want to look at the screen much while driving. But to watch things like WWE wrestling, reality shows, Gordon Ramsey shows, Mythbusters, etc. it's convenient and my passengers can watch the screen no problem.
You missed the point entirely. Adding a second Circle Pad would break compatibility with CURRENT 3DS games. Developers would be split, unsure whether to make games with both sticks in mind, or just the one stick that most people have. The 3DS WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER ANALOG STICK AS STANDARD. The Pro add-on is specifically for a select few games, and that is all. It comes packaged with some of those games.
Not to mention the fact that the Circle Pad Pro add-on doesn't even FIT onto the 3DS XL.
The 3DS XL is NOT the next generation of portables. Comparing it to the transition from DS to 3DS or GBC to GBA is comparing apples to spaceships.
Hi, slashdot, I want to hook up a mouse to my computer. I already have a mouse, it's in a box on the sofa, and my computers across the room at the desk. I don't think the cord will reach that far, and I really don't want to use it from the couch anyway (my keyboard's at the desk, so I'd be walking back and forth a lot). Any ideas?

Sure, just mount a webcam-enabled tablet behind some plexi-glass, near the mouse. That way the computer and keyboard can see the mouse all the time without having to move themselves, or have you move the baby^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hmouse for a visit.
I need to apparently post twice in order for people to see it, but the rumours that the Wii U is underpowered compared to todays consoles is rubbish.
Quick Googling reveals that this rumour about the Wii U's lack of power, from 'an anonymous developer' (probably one with a vested interest in the Wii U failing), is complete BS.
Crytek founder Avni Yerli: The hardware is "very good". "Our guys in Nottingham, they are very happy with their tests on the dev kits and they're excited about it."
Tekken designer Katsuhiro Harada: Very 'impressed by the 60fps running of the game (Tekken) on the Wii U'
Vigil Games: “We had the game at the same level as high end pc version in a matter of days and a few lines of code got the game up and running on tablet in 5 mins.”
Gearbox: "The Wii U version (of Aliens: Colonial Marines) has so much more to offer... no other platform can do what the Wii U can do. The machine itself will be one of the best looking versions of the game [sic] because they’ve got more RAM than some of the other things [platforms]“, says Martel. “...they’ve got this really great processor.”
Epic Games: “It will do things current HD consoles simply cant do its going to be a powerful box.”
”EA: “Wii U is not a transitional platform, it is a true next generation system.”
THQ: “WiiU is just alot more powerful than current HD consoles it does 1080p very easy.”

Sounds like you just don't want to buy a 3DS or Wii U because even though you like Nintendo games, you don't want to be seen as uncool.

Or get a 3DS and play GOOD games, and use your phone for Candy Crush.
That's like the audio version of the complaints people have with HDTV - it looks too real, i can see Brad Pitt's zits, porn looks gross, the sets look fake.

Also this Oddworld game will be on Wii U because Nintendo is embracing indie developers this gen.

Just have the rest of your team call you "The Napster".
Just get a Wii U. Believe me, it's not nearly as horrible as the gaming media portrays it.

Xenoblade Chronicles, the latest game in the series, is out right now for the Wii.
