    If I had to make a wager as to why he left, I would bet someone close to him got layed off and he put his own job on the line to defend them.

    I was sad to hear suse layed of This dude who was doing lots of xforms stuff for FF.

    But of course Novell has been doing lots of good for a while now, all the time losing money, so I couldn't be too critcal.

    Well its not really THAT bad if you know what you're doing.

    Personally, for added protection, I've rot-13'd it and set the keymap to Ctrl+U.

    A warning though, this could add to your prison sentence since you would technically be violating the DMCA.

    I hope you're using the new(is) suspend2-sources kernel, and not taking gentoo-sources and patching it yourself.

    I am using the unmasked 2.6.12 and it has been working fantastically, with a flawless hibernate working "right out of the box".

    Thats kind of my point.

    With the CVS ebuilds you can't guarantee whats going to happen.
    It could be a simple, completely painless install, or it could be really tough.

    Also, I'm willing to bet you didn't have any other programs that used any of the e libs you unmasked, like imlib or ecore, correct?

    CVS Ebuilds are pretty scary things.

    People have had E17 for months if they managed to emerge everything in the proper order at the proper time, otherwise it took quite a bit of work to get it going.

    I wouldn't recommend people try the CVS ebuilds unless they really wanted to give it a try.

    My latest gentoo install is 64 bit, built from the ground up. works great for the most part. there was no lilo that i saw, but I use grub anyways. other then that i'm not missing anything. I've known people that've ran 64 bit in different distros for a couple months now, and they're all quite happy with it.

    If you're looking for a good distro to run on PPC, might i recommend Yellow Dog Linux to you.

    it is a distro aimed at PPC users, and is very user-friendly. I'd put money down on the fact everything "just works" when you put it into your PPC machine.
