I had probably the most frustrating ten minutes i have ever spent on a computer before.
Start, typed in regedit enter. Vista:Are you sure you want to run this program? Me: Yes. I went OUT of my way, hit start, run and typed in the pogram name I wanted. Thanks for checking though. (click).... Edit the registry, close it. That was easy..... double clicked on setup. Stupid shield on my icon, what does that mean? Vista: are you sure you want to run this? it's a program, you know. Me: Oh that must be what the shield is for. Vista feels like it should protect me from software! Vista: This is from AMD. Do you trust AMD? Me: yes, they pay me. I trust them. (click)..... Install......that was easy..... Oops, there's a problem. Well, let's grab the correct file from the build server and copy it over... Open my computer, go to program files.... Vista: Are you sure you want to go there? Me:Yes (click)... open up the application folder.... drag a file from a network share to the application folder.... Vista: Are you sure you want to overwrite this file? Me: Yes (click) Vista:A program wants to write to the Program Files folder. Is this ok? Me: Yes (click) Vista:You are trying to copy from a network share to the program files folder. This isn't allowed. Hit ok. Me: (Pounds head) (click).... Drag to Desktop..... Drag from desktop to application folder.... Vista: Are you sure you want to overwrite this file? me: for the love of god yes Vista:A program wants to write to the Program Files folder. Is this ok? Me: Die.Die.Die.Die.
I had that happen, except the "Second Chance" email was a very real looking eBay message, however instead of PayPal, it directed you to Western Union. Total scam. I wrote eBay about this, and of course they did nothing.
I decided to start shopping for season tickets for UT football games. I found a few, however none were on the west side. I finally found a pair on the west side in section 7. It was at $1,000, I put my max bid in at $1,200. I was high bidder until close to the end, where one person outbid me. Then another person outbid him, for $1,825. I thought there was a chance since all the bidders except myself had a bad rating, I'd get a second chance offer. That's how I scored some tickets last year.
I did. However, it was the day after the auction closed, which set up flags in my mind. Two people outbid me, and one of those people was only outbid by $25. So he would have had 5 days to refuse the offer, and less than a day had passed. So there was warning sign one.
I sent it all to eBay's fraud department, I sure it went into a black hole. But thought I'd document it anyway. Finally, another email from him. How nice of him to discount the fees that Western Union will charge.
Twinsen's Oddessy (yes, it was a sequel) was a great game. I'd love another one. Aside from gameplay, it had some of the best music I've heard in a game.
CD and DVD manufacturing costs are considerably less than $8 (it's usually sub $1). The reason why it costs less is because you (the consumer) get less.
It's not just the ripping - it was ripping, music organization, and playback in one. 90% of the world was using WinAmp, another program to tip, and manually organizing their music. iTunes put it all into one. So there was another Jukebox program (MusicMaker?) that did it too, but wasn't as polished.
My bad for not reading closely enough that the OP was talking about ripping DVD's. Def. not trying to be anti-Microsoft here, more pro consumer. iTunes made cd ripping and music organization painless for the masses. I wish someone would do that for DVD's.
And thanks for noting I'm not an Apple fanboy, I don't even own one (and haven't).
There is another benefit, and is one of the reasons the CIA, FBI and people required Top Secret clearance have credit checks run. People with large amounts of debt are more likely to be bribed to sell your secrets.
I knew people who weren't allowed to work for companies that contracted with the miltary specifically because their credit was bad and they were a security risk, as it was felt they could be easily compromised.
We will get Blu-ray and HD-DVD Windows support when the media and software companies decide we're finally allowed to watch the content we rightfully and legally licensed to view.
You don't own the content, you never did. You always purchased the right to view it under whatever restrictions they decided to impose. If you don't agree with those restrictions, don't buy it.
We almost lost Ronald Reagan because someone was obsessed with Jodie Foster. If only we had thought to ban her, then I wouldn't have been subjected to Nell.
We had this guy fly at one of our parties. The fuel it used was 96% pure hydrogene peroxide, which was some scary stuff to say the least. It was incredibly loud, and woe unto anyone walking underneath with the large amounts of heat this thing generated.
Using the Quick Time player on Windows XP it says required compressor not available (1st time I tried it also said not available on server)... what do I need?

So I got this email. Looked official enough. It had been a while since I had done a second chance offer, so I contacted the seller and gave him my address and phone number, and was told to expect an invoice. I got it. (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4). I knew I was getting scammed when I hit reply. Was I to really believe eBay was staffed by dyslexics who used yahoo's web client?

You can do 1080p over component.

Way to prove the point of why a ton of people still use WMP. That soup of jargon is why iTunes is so hugely popular.
In addition, after you burn a song to CD can't it be ripped back DRM free?

No, you still have it wrong.

To be clear, DVD's look pretty good on my 110" tv.
We almost lost Ronald Reagan because someone was obsessed with Jodie Foster. If only we had thought to ban her, then I wouldn't have been subjected to Nell.
That's iWMD to you, mister.

Start by getting rid of religious extremism. That requires getting rid of religion, and that may not be a bad thing.
I wished I lived on your planet where the price of cable access has gone down. I've paid $50 a month for RoadRunner since 1999.
Originally, that's what the new Eclipse was going to be, a nice hybrid sports car. Then something happened.
But then again, who DOESN'T have it installed?
People who hate annoying ads.
Giving the customer less than they want, one technology at a time.
Using the Quick Time player on Windows XP it says required compressor not available (1st time I tried it also said not available on server)... what do I need?
An Intel Mac, obviously.
It thinks the best place to get news from is Google.....type "news" in the search engine and http://new.google.com/ is the first to appear.
Where I work doesn't allow instant messanging programs to be used, I am curious how this will be affected.
It doesn't have CableCard support.
