Gah! Why not use the Jetsons car noise? Is the royalty a problem?
(I kid.)
Some cars with variable transmissions have a mode which emulates the sound of shifting through actual gears. I wonder if that negates the benefits of a CVT...
making ugly little cars on which it is apparently mandatory to have the rear wheelwells covered like hearses?
Honda also makes/made Civic and Accord hybrid, and Toyota's Prius isn't THAT ugly. There is also Toyota's Highlander hybrid which as far as I know looks like a regular Highlander (and may outperform it but that bit was hearsay)
If it only effacting poeple like vonage users I don't think the telcos will be doing much to fix this.
What makes you think so? Vonage users can call anywhere for free. That's what makes this whole thing feasible and so much like spam in the first place. The only difference is that you have to pay someone to pick up the phone and call, but that can be someone in a third world country at 50 cents an hour.

Granted, I'm a female in engineering, not Computer Science, but I found this comment a little offensive.
Well, that's great, as I didn't make that comment.
Nobody treats me like I'm "a special person" because of my gender, and I do my own schoolwork. Really, the only difference is that I don't have to wait in line to use the bathroom.
OK, you got lucky. I've seen it. A lot.
Which has... what, exactly, to do with the topic under discussion?
It has to do with people not necessarily choosing a major because they were born a geek.
Apple's support confirms Blu-ray's future dominance on the desktop
Against the MS behemoth supporting HDDVD? Why exactly?
And mow for something completely different, who pays this site's bills?

Well, it's great if you want attention, I suppose. I'd rather be the one dude in a French class...

Well, I'm sorry you're offended, but if people constantly get brushed off there's often a limit to their patience.
Not everyone is as tenacious as your mother. Having work done for you and having people treat you like you're a "special person" is a pretty bad impression, and if a woman wasn't set on an IT career that could turn her off.
Hell, idiot geek students almost turned me to another major. When it looks like you will have to probably spend the rest of your life with people you can't stand, you start looking for alternatives.

I think it's a lot more likely that women are leaving IT because of attitudes like this.
Now you want us to feel sorry when it happens to you? It's seems to me the only national leader who immediately came to the US to offer help was Tony Blair.
He has it working on a Mac without a motion sensor, he uses the mouse to give input to the routine. It would be simple to have a button to click to rotate 90 degrees.
But it's not the same as having the monitor resync automatically when you tilt it.

There are hybrid sports cars on the way, too. Looks like Mercedes has hybrid plans. (google it, there are several articles)
Now just fix that pesky problem of dreadfully short ranges. :)
I think current telemarketing systems would be able to circumvent this rather easily, no?
When you find out the truth about the iPod shuttle
Apple's a bit late for the X Prize, no?
VoIP traffic is very easy to block. If you get a telemarketer, block them.
When they're calling your landline, there's no IP traffic to block!

Check the date again. What year are we living in?
Why? Gay guys are better at flirting with women than I am. They're also not as nice to look at.

Let them see what a world without Google is like.
Easy, they just give MSN search their attention.
Several techno labels have done just that. Backcatalogs full of hard to find stuff have been placed on iTMS

What? Even Saddam Hussein condemned the attacks.
