    What if its already too late - you've lost your ass because you didnt see the dot-com shakeout ahead of time and the recession. you're racking up school loans so you can get back into the tech industry that declared you unwanted and unemployable since 2001, and there are already people trying to sue you for money you borrowed when times were good?

    I agree 100%.. never have I violated the law and had sex with anyone underage. I am just stating that the attitude towards sex in this society needs some SERIOUS adjustment. I think it should be added to the bill of rights that if ONE TWO or more people agree on use of parts of thier bodies for pleasure, the LAW should STAY OUT OF IT!!!!

    I'm 34 and stuck in IT because I've considered the medical field as a radiology tech, automotive field as a mechanic or auto body tech, and currently racking my brain trying to figure out what else to try. you see, I can't think of anything besides IT that I *like* doing. I have a feeling you will respond with "you won't like *any* job, just pick one you hate the least, as long as it is NOT IT"

    Why should I work harder for less pay? It does not make sense that over time workload and competition goes up while wages go down - way down for Americans. I made $50k/yr in 1999 now if I could even land a $25k IT job which I haven't been able to yet, I would have to work twice as hard than in 1999 to keep it.

    Thing is, I still think my ear piercings are cool, and they make me happy. before the earrings I had a huge fight about shaving my head while I was working for someone (thank god head shaving is normal now!) I've tried to stay middle of the road, but I just can't. Other things I have done in office jobs before is 1) try to get away with sandals, 2) tight fitting shirts and rolled up sleeves when I was working out. Im hoping for a long shot and get employed at somewhere where they can tolerate me and my nonstandard style. I just can't do what the conservatives ask me for more than a couple months before going out of my mind! Cross training in something else besids IT is another idea. so is going freelance.

    If you've got tattoos and piercings you can't hide is there any way you can make up for them and not get the first impression rejection? In my case I have large earlobe piercings where you can see thru the holes when there is no jewelery in.

    hehe, already playing the trial before you posted this. my graphics card seems to handle it ok, but I will probably build a new machine for this game! it is indeed pretty cool. my priest has already hit level 6++ (extra experience but I havent bought the game yet so I can't go to 7) and has done all his quests plus helped kill the pirate ghost and did that quest too. can't wait to buy the game and visit qeynos itself. meanwhile I might level a bunch of toons to 6. lol! what server are you on?

    While working as a pizza delivery person. More pizzas delivered a night and the happier the customer is when they receive a steaming hot pizza 20 minutes after thier phone order means more money in my pocket. I ended up getting an 80 in a 40 zone = $440 ticket and 6 license points! end of that job. I also found that it is impossible for me to be a 3rd shift grocery store for 7 bucks an hour without eating off the shelves *for free* I frequently went to work broke and couldn't pay anyways. That job is out now too. both of these jobs I held because its so damn difficult to work in computers (where I was happy for 10 years doing it) anymore!

    I absolutely loved EQ1 and was wondering if there is anything good about EQ2 to warrant trying it. I do not believe I will *live* in the game but I can devote 6-8 hours on it a couple times a week, no problem. am I going to have to build a new machine first? (p4 1.7 ghz 512mb ram geforce 3 128mb) the only thing that really pissed me off in EQ1 is when they nerfed the monk (martial arts guy for those that havent played) class. never got high enough level to raid, the highest I got was a 54 necro and didnt have the correct expansions to raid, and no money to buy them with (was unemployed due to an injury) Should I try EQ2? is there as many people playing it as EQ1? has the community in EQ1 since dropped off? I havent been on EQ1 for a year

    I have large 5/8 inch gauges in my ears but when I take them out they shrink to well formed, healed, circular holes about the diameter of a no. 2 pencil I was under the impression that I could simply take them out for an interview and if someone asked about the holes I could just explain that I took my rings out out of respect for the interview and also mentioned that I can take or leave wearing them depending on what was allowed. my other logic was, (and I would not actually say this in an interview) it is just a rationale I have and it is thus: hey, Im not wearing my earrings? noone ever said anything about forbidding large holes in your ears - and no I am not going to stretch them till they hang - where they are are fine. rephrased : hey I took my earrings out for the job, am I not complying? another issue I wonder about is that since I am only mildly balding, can my razor shaved head still be a detractor? Can a white guy do this yet and not be frowned upon? my guess is yes, moreso than piercings.

    can a white guy shave his head now and be percieved as normal? No, not balding too bad, just got a very small bald spot - I just like being shaved bald? I also have ear piercings but I can take those out any comments? my guess is that its not too far from normal although there may be *some* who wonder why you don't want to grow hair.

    Since being dumped out of the bottom of the recession and tech crash, I have decided to get body mods and am specifically retraining in a non IT career that will favor them being acceptable. origionally I thought: healthcare is booming, how bout radiology? took a few classes then realized its just another conservative corporate like atmosphere. now automotive and auto body work sounds good. nice pay 17 bucks an hour and I have a feeling tattoos and piercings may be almost expected on a grease monkey, gearhead or that person sanding down and repainting your car after some idiot pulled out in front of you.. heh. think my idea of choosing a career that fits your lifestyle choices will work / is a good idea? (tm) please comment!

    Hope I am not too late commenting on an older post - well 2 days old anywas .. and an end to US support of Israel.. which is a bummer because my certain brand of Christianity has told me that while Israel (well, Jews) doesn't believe in Jesus there are plenty reasons to love and support them. somewhere in the old testament it says that God will bless those that bless Israel and curse them that curse her. It would be a bummer to alot of people that are fond of Israel for this reason to have to turn thier back on what thier religious teachings say. Sounds like a stalemate over religion to me. Islam vs Christianity.

    actually,this has some truth in it, most of us that hate the corporate-controlled crap would get our closets opened to the public and disqualified by the press the day we announced our run for public office! It is the reason pot will never be legalized because you have to prove you have not inhaled it before you run on a pro pot lobby! (and then if you do not use it then why do you want it legalized?)

I live in Landrum, if you know where that is (just up from Gowensville, the infamous hwy 9 and hwy 11 interchange. and I agree humans are descended from sheep/lemmings. I want to go in, do my work and go home to my girlfriend (if I had one hehe) or beer and the PS2. I always tend to choose entertainment over enlightenment.. maybe I was doomed to fall out the bottom of the IT career anyways... isn't there a good paying job for lazy people? >I WAS a "high-end" computer consultant. When our market started crashing in '99/'00 I didn't follow the advice that I just gave Same here, now I deliver pizza and can't afford to live on my own anymore. I'm trying to figure out how to get out of the dilemma but if it requires me to put 12 hours a day in plus weekend time then I may not be able to hack it. I got way used to 9-5 and 50k during the 90's and I don't like how it seems like all workplaces now expect more and pay less. where is my beer?

    RE: not indulging in beer/wine/booze/tobacco/drugs In your opinion it going to be necessary to completely forgo any chemical enjoyment to get out of the "Ive been out of IT for so long my skills are rusty and now I can only land a pizza delivery job" rut? a good smoke and some beer go along way to making you forget how much tougher the world is - at least temporarily.
