Don't you remember well known information modded as troll?

    You must be new here!

    Hello!

I see you got nastily pinned down, for being thoughtful, but nonconformist. Slashdot is like an army, critical voices get jailed.

IMHO Misusing of "flamebait" or "troll" modding should be penalised by a severe karma dump to prevent Groupthink.

    But it is not.

Although I disagree with you in substance, I will fight for your voice being heard. That's democracy. Slashdotters should value it more...

The "idiocy" of staff is probably deliberate and trained.

The thing that works here in EU:

    * read your contract with verizon, mainly a part with warranties and contract termination
    * claim your warranty by snail mail (recomando and to 3 different people at best) WITH COPIES SENT TO organisation responsible for giving them telco licence and to supervisory board

Write into the letter all the recipients ("Copies sent to:").

They can have "idiocy policies" set for support staff at the phone, but not for stack holders and supervisors.

Lenovo will lose their low-price advantage, for there is substantial difference in pricing low-end notebooks WITH and WITHOUT Windows!

And as broader usage of linux is to be expected, it will make Lenovo less competitive.

Frankly, a year ago I tested OGG compression and I was completely unsatisfied with the result:
With maximum bitrate&quality the decline of quality was hearable with $150 sound system (loudspeakers included in the price).

    Knowledge is always subjective:
Hence "objectivity within specific realms of knowledge" makes no sense.
Knowledge is mental image - if You think you can be objective with it, you are deluding yourself.

    Ad "Academic authority":

You could say that it's a house of cards; but the point is that these folks are subjected to tests of their reliability throughout their careers.
Academic authority is not tested by real career - only by academic career, hence it is a house of cards (how nicely said - academics supporting each other!).

    2. Your project is not trivial and spec is copied from some existing product
