I run XP, Vista and Mac. I'm happier on Vista, Mac being the bottom. That's irrelevant, and so is your preference.
Substantial changes and new features? Spotlight? Expose? Dashboard? All of which can be found on Windows. For free. How is XP better than 5 years ago? Windows firewall built in. IE7. Media Player 11 (which runs on Windows XP purchased 5 years ago...oh, look! iTunes 7 only works on 10.3. Oh look! The new nano's require iTunes 7! How's that for vendor lock in?). The fact that new software still works on my five year old OS is great (and will continue to work even when Vista is out). See, the thing is, the vast majority of these 'features' in OS X that Apple charges full price for are upgrades to their built in apps...which Microsoft releases for free.
The original poster was discounting the innovations that Opera brought for the mere fact that it isn't open source. He kept on touting the horn of open source software, how it is always vastly superior (in terms of code, efficiency, fixes, features), ignoring the fact that Opera is still a faster, more optimized browser than Firefox, has introduced many of the 'innovations' that Firefox claims as its own, and ignores the fact that Firefox has had a memory leak bug for ages that has yet to be fixed (while claiming that Firefox gets fixed faster because it's open source).
Firefox has pushed all the innovation in web browsers (unless you count Opera, other FOSS browsers).
Of course! Let's not count Opera because it doesn't match with our precious open source theory! Ignore tabs! Mouse gestures! All these 'innovations' that Firefox pushed! Yay puppies and kittens!
It's not just about patches. Lots of software won't run at all on 10.1 or 10.2 nowadays. Whereas XP is over 5 years old, and most new software will still run on it, as well as Vista.
After Premiere disappeared from the Mac Adobe rewrote it (Premiere Pro) to be much, much closer to Final Cut Pro in terms of features. It's pretty nifty now. Just to let you know.
And now I am under the paid employment of Microsoft! OF COURSE! Silly, juvenile conspiracy theories allow people to take you more seriously. How could I forget?
Frankly the biggest issue for me is the price. $8 for the Genesis games is way too much. If they were down to $5, I'd already have bought Ecco the Dolphin and Ristar by now. Definitely going to buy Toejam and Early, but come on Nintendo! Bring the prices down, you're asking a wii bit too much.
Take a look at Apple's site when they talk about Spaces. No where does it say that it's a much requested feature. In fact, it goes so far as to claim "Only with Mac OS X Leopard". And Mac Zealots run with it and go "OMG! WINDOWS AND LINUX SUX0RZ!".
Uhh...umm...Apple acted like the Dashboard was "their" solution, when Konfabulator was out way before, and in Vista's roadmap, the sidebar and gadgets were an announced feature. Apple acted like Spotlight was "their" solution, when again, indexed searching was in Vista's roadmap 5 years ago, and Google and other programs beat them to the punch. "Spaces" vs virtual desktops in Linux and a Windows XP powertoy. The list goes on.
I agree. From the title on my RSS feed I pretty much thought that all the future releases for SiN Episodes have been fully coded/designed/completed, and that now all that there is left to do is release them, which would solve the major criticism against episodic content wherein they wouldn't have regular release cycles. Obviously, this was completely wrong.
Please also note that Jihad doesn't necessarily mean 'war' and 'killing non-believers'. There are different kinds of Jihad, including struggling against lusts (the word 'jihad' itself means struggle), gaining knowledge (yes, including universities and scientific knowledge) is also considered Jihad. The Jihad that involves fighting is always done so in self-defense...only recently has it been bastardized by idiotic fundementalists.
Umm. Check YOUR facts. Muslims believe that Jesus is a prophet, not the Son of God (which is EXACTLY what the parent said). Also, the five pillars of Islam are as follows:
Believing that there is only one God, and Mohammed was merely his prophet (to emphasize that he is also not a prophet)
Five daily prayers
Charity once a year
Fasting the month of Ramadan
Performing the pilgrimage once in your lifetime
So please, YOU check your facts before you spout prejudiced nonsense.
WMP11 will definitely not sync with the iPod, blame Apple for that one.:p Anyway, WMP11 was out and in beta state (pretty much feature complete aside from bugs and what not) for a long, long time, way before iTunes 7 came out.
Can I ask: Have you tried windows media player 11? I agree anything before that was a complete joke, but I find WMP11 to be far superior to them, including iTunes (in fact, many have said that iTunes 7 has taken some ideas from WMP11). And it plays well with MP3 players too. Before I had to use a crappy custom software to put songs in my Sony Ericsson Walkman phone, but now WMP11 detects it as an MP3 player when I plug it in and lets me sync playlists/add music to it all I like.
So just because they didn't have the money to invest we should leave them further behind in the dust instead of giving them the opportunity to better themselves?
I've been using Vista beta's since summer. You don't notice it at first, but now it annoys me when I return to Windows XP at work.

Oh, it isn't. I thought so.
The Security Center, Firewall, IE7, etc are all new features for Windows XP released for free.
It's not just about patches. Lots of software won't run at all on 10.1 or 10.2 nowadays. Whereas XP is over 5 years old, and most new software will still run on it, as well as Vista.
Doesn't the fact that you can set your computer to turn off the hard-drive after 30 minutse (or whatever you like) of inactivity negate that problem?
$15 is for the full version of Tekken 5. Demos are obviously free :)

I think you should rephrase your question: "how does Cinelerra compare to Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro?"
Us Opera users get no love :(

Please, for the love of whatever it is you believe in, if you want to be taken seriously...it's MS, not M$.
Replace the word "Google" with "Microsoft" and promoting Picasa to say, promoting Office, and lets see if you hark the same tune.
