Nnnnnnnn...eh, no. Cubs fans (and I mean CUBS FANS) are loyalsts. Remember when the fan caught the ball, when it could have been caught by the outfielder? Fans tormented him so much--letters at house, disconnected his power, etc--that he had to move. It's true---I know someone who used to work with him. He started the curse that cost the Cubs the series. So no, CUBS FANS are not fair-weathered. They are like Apple fans.
"write your representative..."
BAWAAAAAAAAWAAA HAHAHAHA!
Oh, I'm sorry But this is DELAY COUNTRY, son. Woooowee, I do thank you for the gut-buster tho.
Sure, why not? Tivo has more customers than they need, they can risk pissing off a significant percentage and losing them to ad-free competitors (sarcasm intended.) If you had any doubts Tivo was on the brink, this will be the final push. A cheap short-term "cash in" resulting in long-term disaster.
I purchased Audio Hijack to rip AAR to my iPod (you know... before the election) It was crashing on my iBook however. Rogue's support was great, we went back and forth with emails of things to try for a few days. The conclusion was me getting a new build that cured the problem. YMMV of course, but I'd buy from them again.
This is a completely unsolicited endorsement (a/. rarity)
As Dave starts sliding his cards thru the reader, looking at all of his private info flashing up on his monitor...a red camera eye fills the screen:
Dave Bowman: What's the problem?
HAL: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.
Dave Bowman: What are you talking about, HAL?
HAL: This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.
Dave Bowman: I don't know what you're talking about, HAL.
It's just a matter of time for a precedent-setting case to take this huge chunk out of the First Amendment. It's gonna happen. I would just hate for Apple to be the one opening the flood gates.
1. Set up a business and charge by the hour (e.g. $20/hour)
2. Ask indirectly for a favor, half-kidding or not (e.g. "how about a home-cooked meal sometime," etc.)
No one wants to pay for support of course, but they may be more willing to barter. I've not charged yet, and I know someone who does it even more. His favors have landed him a lot of paying side-jobs. What's gained from networking (social networking that is) could be worth it alone. Plus it's good karma. YYMV
More than 2GB...2GB!..it took to install Mac Panther over the weekend. And I thought I could get by eBaying a 2GB harddrive for the OS just to get running, and get a 20GB+ slave down the road. Oh, by the way, retrieving files from a crashed OS X hard drive is an excellent test of Mac permissions (read: nightmare.)
Does anyone have time for commercials anymore? I don't. Tivo TV, burn radio streams to my iPod, and skip thru the commercials. Number of commercials I have to listen to nowadays: zero. Good friggin riddance.
Perhaps this is part of the declining TV viewership companies have begun to bemoan, blaming yet again the revenue-robbing Internet.
I am impressed by the amount of attention little ol' Apple can generate with mainstream and tech media alike. Perhaps we are at the dawn of a time when Apple begins to retake their market share, perhaps (gasp) getting back nto the double-digits in the next few years?
The past 2 projects I worked on tuned out great because I broke from the laborious "project management" route and just dove in and got it done. One project was something I just thought was a good idea. A good manager will give you enough rope to either hang yourself with or to make something great.
If articles like this are able to frame this concept in management-friendly "bizspeak" so that PHB's give developers more freedom, so much the better.
That's okay...the battery life on my Motorola MD 451's is crap anyhow (using Vonage w/ multihandset 2.4 GHz setup.) I had a Panasonic 900MHz brick before; the charge lasted for days.
Dell spent millions trying to migrate off Compaq Tandem and onto Windows Servers for their core manufacturing database. They were going to use 100% Dell hardware damnit! Millions of dollars later, Tandem was alive and well.
Can anyone at Dell confirm Tandem is still the heart of the mighty beast?

Just wait for the Battlestar Galatica movie.

- Get a Mac
- Download OpenOffice.org
- Get Virtual PC if you still need to run Windoze apps
You'll never look back. But add varnish to the post and now you have something worth modding up. Right...anyone...?
Site's been /.d ... or the server got sawdust in the heatsink again, causing the fresh coat of varnish to burst into flames.
Agreed! News of the leak just reminded me that the series even exists! Excellent marketing, BBC!
Ahem...again, Mac OS X has it covered
Could it be Apple develops technology, and...well, you know the rest.

Here's one at CNN International.
Labels are like OPEC...there's no competitive pricing among providers, just THE price for the product.

Site's been slashdotted...or the damn battery died again!
What I learned from my internship, which included fixing monitors: lightbulb glass is an excellent insulator for leaking capacitors.
1. Break light bulb into large concave pieces.
2. Cup piece around arcing leak of power supply.
You can get a couple more years out of a monitor if you don't mind the occasional pops and crackles.

People are sick and tired of Windoze methinks.

What happens to the people that don't plan, or don't plan well?
Um...welfare.
As comedians say "I have found the level of the room." --- "You're a McDonald...not a whore."
