I work at Best Buy. We do not track people who return defective items[...] If you make an excessive number of returns, yes, you will be flagged in the system. Wow! When you drank the kool-aide, you must have asked for the Big Gulp size.

That a pretty lose definition of "walking". Reminds me of Tim Conway's little-old-man character's shuffle.

  5. Re:It doesn't work on Firefox Improves Pop-Up Ad Blocking · · Score: 1

That's right. It doesn't work very well. After I installed it and restarted FF, I noticed that links that used to simply open new windows (which I had set to up in new tabs), would now not open at all, even if I added the site to the pop-up white list. At least Firefox has a simple way to uninstall clunker extensions.

  6. Re:Homeopathy. on 13 Things That Do Not Make Sense · · Score: 1

There's one big problem with the Belfast homeopathy study. NO ONE'S BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE IT. The BBC science program "Horizon", conducted a series of test trying to achieve the same results, but with no success. It's seems pretty clear that the initial study was very flawed. http://www.randi.org/jr/010303.html

Yes, it has the dreaded Dalak flaw. But that's the only way we'll be able to defeat them when they try to take over. The story doesn't say if "Exterminate!" is part of their vocabulary. Yet.

Months? How about years? I first head about this in 1997. If you have to modify all the power lines, what's the point? The idea is to be able to use the existing system. It looks more and more like a pipe dream.

  11. Already Split on Disney to Make Toy Story 3 Without Pixar · · Score: 5, Interesting

Pixar's realized it doesn't need Disney (all they've done lately is act as distributers). Disney killed their golden goose in an effort to grab a little more profit for themselved.

  12. Re:arafat and bush on Venus/Jupiter Conjunction Tomorrow · · Score: 5, Funny

Planetary conjunctions were outlawed in 10 states on Tuesday. You'd better hope they don't find out about this. 'Course, those people aren't real big on "all that scientific stuff", so maybe they won't notice.

Amen. Not only will it not run scripts, it's immune to image links that will notify the sender that the email address is valid.

  14. Re:Somebody will figure it out on Caller ID Spoofing for the Masses · · Score: 1

You don't need this to spoof calls. Your phone company will gladly supply everything you need. All that is required is the add-on services of call forwarding, and call management. Used with a second phone (your cell works fine), it's a simple matter to make your caller ID appear to be any number you want.

  15. Re:Extensions on Mozilla Releases Firefox 1.0 RC1 · · Score: 1

ALT text is NOT intended to be pop-up text (use the title tag for that). It's to REPLACE an image when it can't be shown. Moz/FF should be applauded for not encouraging the crappy HTML coding that IE does.
