You can see that this is photoshopped with the naked eye, no need to pull it into photoshop.

Notice the spacing between the boxes in the left column is not equal, look at the gaps between the 3rd and 4th and the 4th and 5th.

I think this duping stuff is a hoax, if it wasn't I have total confidence that Blizzard would be all over it and you be hearing more tales of people being banned.

    Why have deadlines?

I know what you mean, but without some kind of target to aim for things just could keep dragging on forever. I'm sure it's a soft deadline, I mean no one is going to lose a job if the deadline slips as in a for profit project.

I dont know what compelled me to look at the picture, but I did. Just yesterday I heard the term 'Nerd Herd' and it popped into my head and I had a good, spontaneous chuckle.

  3. For those of you too lazy... on Minneapolis To Go Wireless · · Score: 4, Informative

...to RTFA, here are some key points.

    * The citywide wireless network is necessary to improve government communications by linking every city building, police car and housing inspector to the city's databases, city officials say.

    * No tax money would be used for the Minneapolis wireless network, which would be paid for, built, owned and operated by the winning bidder on the city's proposal.

    * Minneapolis officials decided not to build their own wireless network because of high construction and administrative costs, Beck said. In addition, city officials were concerned that cities offering high-speed Internet service have been accused by large telephone companies of competing with the private sector, he said.

    * the city also needed an improved network that could speed up data traffic in its 47 main buildings and extend high-speed access to 300 other buildings

    * The city also wanted to replace expensive cellular radio communications used by police cars with a cheaper and faster wireless data network. There also was a desire to provide broadband to an estimated 10 to 15 percent of the city's population that either isn't served by high-speed Internet access or can't afford it.

So, there's a little bit more going on here than the city slapping an antenna on top of the IDS tower and charging people for internet access, which a lot of these posts seem to think is what is happening.

I'm very much in favor of this, of course I have to wonder how long it would take St. Paul(the other twin city just across the river) to follow suit?

How much does severe weather affect signal strength? I'm sure there are other large wireless networks in metro areas that get lots of rain, sleet or snow.

    Lol!

As a current twin cities resident I can safely say that for the past couple of years the misquitos have been a non issue. They have been pretty aggressively managing/spraying the little buggers. The last time I saw more than a handfull in one place was while biking near a river in a nature reserve. Maybe out in one of the burbs the situation is different, but in the cities it's not really an issue.

    Wow.

The Clintons are not the first couple to attempt to stand by each other after an affair. And Clinton is not the first politician to lie about playing around with an intern. If we spent our time looking at the private lives of politicians there would not be any time left over for political discussion. This is a private matter and frankly, it should have stayed private.

So, since the evening news sucks and we are fucking up in Iraq, it's okay if I let my 9 yr old daughter play GTA? I just want to make sure I understand your point.

Although both were wrong, comparing the Iraq war to the Clinton/Lewinski sillyness shows a serious flaw in perspective. One of them is a family issue that ultimatly affects only the people involved, the other is costing untold lives, dollars and the stability and security of the world.

Personally, I would love to see some realistic common sense laws that would help prevent GTA from ending up in some young kids x-box.

Perhaps this is what comes from clueless parents, ineffective labels and stores that don't give a damn about anything other than the sale?

Sure, I'll agree that playing GTA is not going to turn any kid into a serial killer. But it does expose them to real life examples of at best adult and at worst violent criminal behavior.

If GTA was a movie it would be rated R, at the very least. Young kids should not be playing it, period. And they are, don't you think that that is a problem?

    >> Do they really think that it's okay to discuss work issues on a personal blog?

It's all life. People talk about life. That's life. Why can't companies cope with reality?

It's not exactly the same as talking about work with a couple of pals. It's out there on the net for everyone to see for a long time. And if you share something that you are not supposed to, then you deserve to be smacked. I know that my company routinely monitors what's being said about itself and our competitors, and they are doing the same.

    >> I think bloggers will learn, and some are learning the hard way, to keep work stuff out of personal forums

    In Stalinist Russia?

Nope, in corporate america. It's about image. When I'm at work I represent my company. When I'm off the clock and talking about work I still consider myself a representative of my company. Can you see how it's not the brightest idea to have one post on my blog about what's going on at work and the next post about my wild night last friday?

    >> I would never mention my worklpace in my blog unless I felt comfortable seeing my entire personal blog hanging in the break room

If companies aren't doing anything wrong then they have nothing to be worried about.

I'm not talking about airing a company's dirty laundry. I'm talking about drawing a line between sharing work stuff and personal stuff at the same place as well as inadvertantly talking about work things that are internal, not for public consumption.

I agree with you. I would never, ever, ever put anything about the company I work for on my blog and I completely understand why my company would be upset about me even hinting about finacial topics, new products or the inner workings of the company. What are these people thinking? Do they really think that it's okay to discuss work issues on a personal blog? I think bloggers will learn, and some are learning the hard way, to keep work stuff out of personal forums. And if they wish to talk about work stuff they need to do it in an anonymous way. I would never send an unsecure email that I wouldn't feel comfortable writing on the back of a postcard just like I would never mention my worklpace in my blog unless I felt comfortable seeing my entire personal blog hanging in the break room.

http://settlers.cs.northwestern.edu/ This is the java applet version of basic catan, four player max and you are able to play against bots. Two positives are that you can play solo(against 3 bots) and since it's an applet there's nothing to download/install(play from work.. who? me?!?) Using wancatan and finding players via wannagame you can play with any or all of the expansions, different maps, rules, sounds, dice roll tracker, more players etc.

I play catan online a couple of times a week and also play tabletop about once a month. Catan has been online in various forms for a while.

You can play basic catan online at http://settlers.cs.northwestern.edu/.

You can also play online using wancatan and wannagame to find other players.

    What is catan?
Catan is a game of resource gathering and trading.
The resources you get are determined by the roll of the dice and what tile intersections your towns are built on. The neat thing is that the board is made up of land/resource tiles and these tiles are also assigned random probabilities markers.. so that each game is different. There are a few different expansions that each add a different flavor and layer of complexity to the game. I think the best way to play is with all of the expansions combined, basic catan is fun, but the expansions make the game great.
