Don't try mixing OC or T lines with consumer based access. OC-48 has the same speed up and down, almost no consumer based connection methods do that, not Dial-up, not cable, and with 1 exception, neither does DSL.

Question: What kind of indexing time are you expecting for each created/modified/moved file? If it takes long enough, and you don't do that many searches, why bother?
You forgot one: Going out and DOING things outside. Up until recently, I didn't qualify. Because having a life != those things you mentioned. We're not all corperate lackeys.
