Asterisk is an open sourced pbx project that has really matured. Some people still gripe about its scripting, and difficultly to set up, but I find it a breeze. If you're relaly interested check out the Asterisk Wiki.
Someone would have to hack root on the asterisk box then edit the extentions.conf to allow outdialing to other numbers then the prefixes already specified. This could happen regardless of wether you're using Bellster or not.
I mean I know folks here on/. will find this cool and may acutally use it for mail. But, when a portion of net users have a hard time remembering thier email username and password, will this really take off? I mean PGP took off to a certain extent, but if you mention it to the average net user they look puzzled.
Even the crashing of a plane into the Pentagon was not a terrorist act, since the point was to attack a military target
Why is it that I'm not surprised this was modded to +5 insightful? It's a sorry day for slashdot mods..Wake up slashdot, hijacking a civilian aircraft and then crashing it into a military building *IS* a terrorist attack.
Once China begins to show up the USA then we have another space race, go china! The US public needs to be motivated by such competition to get interest back into space. If the US is the only nation really striving in space then the willingness to dump cash into NASA by public representives is not justified unless it means those representives wont be re-elected.
Will launching 2 men into space do this? No..But its a start to eventual competition as long as China's economy continues to grow, and doesn't bust like the former Soviet Union.
The way Phrack has presented security information with a sense of humor has always made Phrack an entertaining read. Even when the articles weren't funny, and were serious, the tone had already been set with the loopback section. It is sad that Phrack will no longer be something to look forward to.
However, anyone who has followed Phrack will admit that it peaked long ago, and has slowly been going away. Phrack closing shouldn't be a shock to anyone. I'm glad someone finally decided to say 'it's over' rather than having one issue a year.
