Or rather an old man whose mind is slipping away is allowed to pass peacefully on his own terms before he begins crapping his pants and muttering to himself.
Dude, I'm not saying we should kill people we disagree with. Like, at all. I'm saying we should let people take care of themselves how they see fit, instead of being a drain on society.
Let's pick a food with much higher tryptophan than turkey. Let's pick eggs, which have 1g tryptophan per 100g eggs, which is 3-4 times more than in turkey.
Let's pair them with some "starchy" foods. Maybe, pancakes. Or Waffles. Maybe cereal, or hashbrowns. I like eggs mixed into my hashbrowns, so I'll pick them.
Clearly, this intense dosage of tryptophan and carbohydrates should knock me out cold. Several sittings may be necessary to determine an accurate effect.
Fortunately, I eat this mixture for breakfast on a regular basis. So lucky are we! But, alas, I do not pass out after my morning meal.
Here's my anecdotal evidence. I call it the typical American breakfast. High in tryptophan, high in "starch," low in drowsiness.
I'm not advocating euthenasia or anything so extreme
Many civilizations throughout history have not considered euthanasia extreme by any means. Just because our particular religious influence is somewhat more restrictive than those of other civilizations doesn't mean that their practices were barbaric. It's entirely possible that once all this Christ nonsense dies down, people might have a much more reasonable view of what constitutes "extreme."
I am advocating euthanasia. Or, more precisely, assisted suicide. Adults of sound mind should have the option while their mind is still sound.
The pursuit of scientific endeavors is the only future for mankind. Universal healthcare and public transit are good economic investments in infrastructure, but they contribute very little to the betterment of humanity in the manner that scientific advancement through military research has.
It is painfully short-sighted to invest too heavily in social services before investing in technologies that could someday make those services obsolete.
I think your wife may be a good example of the solution, not the problem.
I did not mean to offend. In fact, I very much agree with what I believe to be your central point. Money might be a good way to entice a decent teaching staff. Unfortunately, public institutions will never be able to meet professional wages.
But it looks like we do have a good teacher in your wife, without the better pay. Like I said, the solution is for quality people to sacrifice good pay and a higher standard of living for the education of our children. This seems to be the choice your wife has made.
This sad truth will continue to occur until intelligent, capable people begin to devote their lives toward the education of our children. Unless that happens, the majority of our public educators will forever be the people who couldn't pass math because they weren't able to figure out their calculator.
Well, since you don't need 256 unique characters for most English text, ASCII is less efficient than some of the open standards used for eBooks. Additionally, if you wish to be compatible with more than simply English, something like Unicode would be a better choice.
See, there are plenty of reasons that wholly concur with your central argument.
If the branded stores associated with the devices are the only place you're looking, you're obviously not looking hard enough.
If only we could unlock the taskbar and move it to the top of the screen...
That was not meant to be anonymous. Any downmods, please downmod me, not the AC post.
Dude, yes! We could put all our applications there as we're using them, possibly even group like ones together!
Only it wouldn't be tabs anymore, it'd be tasks, so we could call it... not the tab bar... I know! Let's call it the "Taskbar!"
Oh, wait...

What rule would that be?
Okay, here's an example:
Let's pick a food with much higher tryptophan than turkey. Let's pick eggs, which have 1g tryptophan per 100g eggs, which is 3-4 times more than in turkey.

And this is clearly valid reasoning because Thanksgiving dinner is the only meal with "starchy" foods?
Dude, did you not see the "more tryptophan in chicken than turkey" bit?
All I saw was "blah blah blah, we eat roadkill."
This is probably unfair, but I feel that that aspect of your story diminishes your credibility.
Of course, because the duck wouldn't have any carbohydrates, brilliant!

This is precisely the point I am arguing. Thank you.

I thank her for making the world a better place.

There really ought to be a "-1 Impossible to Read" mod.
Ya, the iPhone is a great example. The DS definitely needs 500 "iFart" applications for $10 each.
*cough*
"Ones"
It's called the Dunning–Kruger effect.

I understand that DRM removal falls under fair-use when there is a potential of content loss. Is this not correct?
Sorry, I've got prior art on that.
If brevity is the soul of wit, then how does one explain Twitter?
Clearly your example disproves the existence of the soul.
He has a deprecated achievement, and does not have an upcoming achievement. So those numbers are accurate.
