The problem is in the transactions: in a capitalist system, the valuation of a transaction is determined by the private parties involved. In a communist system, that value is determined by the community as a whole.
The convergence between the two are where the perceived needs of the individuals meet the real needs of the community.
Labor unions, although hardly ideal, are a good example of this convergence.
How about the first guy sells his food for money to the second guy, then uses that placeholder of equal value to purchase whatever it is he needs from guy three.
In essence, from guy one according to his ability, to guy two according to his need, then from guy three according to their ability and back to guy one according to his need.
Wow, you're right. No one ever notices that... I'm gonna keep putting it in my papers for my humanities courses, though, and see if any of these PhDs pick up on it. Good call!
Well, it can be a little more subtle than that. Eisenhower described the process thusly:
Politicians are concerned about the welfare of their constituents. During wartime/other massive government spending in industry, more and more of those constituents become financially dependent on military/government contractor industry for jobs. To act in the best interest of their constituents, politicians are compelled to continue war, or to make other kinds of major fiscal decisions benefiting those industries.
By promoting massive, wasteful spending on NASA, many politicians could be actively seeking the immediate best interest of their constituents.
Representative democracy should fear the military industrial complex.
Okay, I'm tired of this crap. It should never be a mistake to ask why you're being detained. Ever. Whenever we started having to kowtow to the police we entered a police state.
Some of us lack the funds to sue anyone. Does this mean we should all be cowed before law enforcement unless we happen to be rich? This seems like a rather classist system you are arguing for.
I have seen it and I honestly didn't think it was all that bad. It was markedly less painful than, say, watching Metropolis with the original subtitles. That is torturous.
I actually kind of liked the Star Wars Holiday Special with the, what was it? The Festival of Life? And the Wookie family. I thought it was pretty neat, personally. I don't know why everyone is so down on it.
Especially in contrast to the new movies.
Not really the new Star Wars movies. Like, Twilight. That had to be, by a wide margin, the worst film I have ever seen. That anyone has ever seen. Acting, directing, writing. All of it was excruciatingly bad. I really don't know why people are so down on this holiday special thing when there are much worse films out there.
This is like the fifth post on this article that has done the thing where a sentence starts in the title and finishes in the comment. Does anyone else think that's odd?

My god! Capitalism is Communism!
Sadly, a colony of poets would starve, although they all contributed to society equally.
The obvious method to override.
Spending money on war is hardly a waste if a greater destruction is averted.

He's wrong if he thinks you can workeffectively [sic] in a noisy environment
I believe he addressed this point in this comment, although I agree that he could've been more clear.
Ever heard that AC/DC song, we've got big balls?
Ya, that was written for you.

Nah, that's 802.11 AC/DC
Actually, that sounds awesome!
I liked Battlefield Earth...
What do you call those little frames with the German gibberish in between scenes? I just called'em subtitles, but I imagine there's a more exact term.
Oh my god, why does it keep posting my comments as anonymous coward!?
I have seen it and I honestly didn't think it was all that bad. It was markedly less painful than, say, watching Metropolis with the original subtitles. That is torturous.
Notoriously bad?

Why is this at all "Flamebait?" At worst, it should be off-topic.
Non-profit is just a tax bracket, I assure you that they are still in the business of staying profitable.
I'll just hafta go over there and test the methane levels around Olympus Mons to find out...

Actually, I've heard stories of rich folk in Central America who get car jacked, but have biometric locks, so the carjackers cut off their fingers.
It happens.
Nah, they wouldn't be concerned until it said something outrageous, like $60,000,000,000.
