I remember when I first came accross tabbed browsing - it was Opera [which was ahead in many areas at the time - mouse gestures being another:)]
The reason why it was revolutionary was because it allowed you to open links in the background and they would load whilst you was still skimming the page/results. This was the days of dialup / early ADSL and allowed for more efficient browsing. In theory we should now be loading pages at lightning speed [literally] . We don't. RAM is not the problem.
The amount of RAM usage is pretty irrelevant unless you run out, it is more important how it is handled; which depeneds on too many factors to benchmark.
It would be nice if we could benchmark the overall 'browsing' experience, which in this day in age of resource hungry/wasting websites is pointless. [I am looking at you slashdot, I do not need to dynamically load comments, I have enough bandwdith to load all the comments I have filtered by score and my browser is more than capable of showing me them]
If the problem is the amount of RAM you are using when browsing the web, there is a far more fundamental problem.
When you remove a 1000 members of IT staff [many of which were probably your best] and replace them with 500 offshore workers combined with the need to support *legacy* systems, you are asking for trouble.
Very rarely pay attention to the glowing thing in the corner now, when I lived with a few mates there was a rule if the TV was on and adverts came on - the person nearest the remote/TV had to mute it..........
On topic: As many have mentioned - this could be a good thing, the big media companies business plans tipped a long time ago. The bigger they are - the longer and harder they fall.
XFCE4 is worth all the time [which is not *that* long] spent tweaking and customising.....you can make it look like anything you want and it still flies along, oh and the panels and plugins are usefull and do not eat resources.
Gnome3 and Unity was unforgivable, it broke my work flow and didn't offer anything better. This is a sin in a business/effecient enviroment.
I am not usually up for direct action[0] etc.. but maybe Mozilla could highlight this by including an 'alert' in the next update or show a page with the details - rather than a 'Change Log / Whats New' page [Which few people read anyways]
Silly me.
0. A browser should only render html as defined - like - years ago....
Well, Buckingham Palace has a pretty low population density compared to its surrounding environs. I'm pretty sure if a plane smacked that it would raise a few complaints...
I would probably buy one, and I live in the US. It would depend on how much it costs to run the pump and get a full tank.
Wow - they have found a way to charge for air! [Yes I know it costs to get the air in the tank and compress it etc...]
Damn I wish I had mod points, I nearly spit $BEVERAGE all over my keyboard.
The naivety of some people astounds me sometimes - or they are a bot/shill......
FTFY, hope that helps....
It just seems a weird phrase to use 'Officers took control of the teenager's computer'
Officers took control of the teenager's computer and arrested the man the next day.
What does this mean? As a typical /. user I skimmed the links.....
The web has never been safe......encryption is not 'safe'
UK intelligence agencies take this approach.
We learnt this from Bletchley Park ;)

Regardless of the technical problems, the root cause of this seems to be management......
Many a true word said in jest.....

This is pretty desperate....all in good time.

This cat is a long way of out the bag :)
'Anonymous' are a distraction.......
The Mozila site shows no mention of this.

Although not quite as easy as just firing up tcpdump (If it was - this would have been 'exploited' a long time ago)

Not sure if the version of skype client is relevant (Maybe you just need to enable debug mode)
You could replace looking at the logfile with sniffing packets if they are in plain text (Which they probably shouldn't be)
I haven't tried this.

Depends on who was or wasn't there at the time...
The only cost issue for me is the fact that it is a total waste of money.......
Could be a big job moving a university however
Oh wait.....
Slashdot fail - can't reply to parent
Can't tag - mod this up.
Oh if I had the mod points.......welcome to the Internet Steam.
Rich people != jerks - give me a break.
Isn't the Olympics about 'amateur' athletes?
Excuse my ignorance.
iOS5 and the iCloud will save the day.
Ah I see, I have answered my own question.
