Obviously we can't live in one of those universes, so a series of accidents, bizarre or mundane, probably take place until someone decides it's not worth the effort and the project is scrapped.
This hypothesis has received a lot of press lately, but I don't think most people understand it very well. Parrellel universes destroying themselves won't make it any more likely that the project will be scrapped in ours. All of those freak accidents would have to have been fated to occur regardless in order for our universe to exist. Because of that it is just as likely that all the other parrellel universes create and use the LHC without destroying themselves and we fail on a fluke. Our fate to fail exists independantly of what happens to everyone else.
Speaking of anecdotes, 9.10 has been a huge upgrade for my Eee 1000 netbook. 720p h.264 encoded videos that used to get choppy when there was a lot going on now run flawlessly. Boot time has been cut down to ~10 seconds. Everything feels snappier and more responsive. Best of all I don't have to run some Eee specific distro that won't survive a dist upgrade.
Every major operating system is going to cause some problems for a subset of the upgraders. Just because those of us who are happy with the new release aren't shouting it from the rooftops doesn't mean we don't exist.
As I recall, the pandora handheld is also built on an OMAP3530 and has a video out jack. Video playback didn't work out so well for Sony's PSP, but having a HTPC in my pocket that can stream my videos over the network seems like a good thing.
Should I sneak out into a nursery and take the sod I need?
Unless the nursery has a machine that produces infinite sod at no cost to them your analogy fails. If an individual pirates a software title that they cannot afford they have not cost the author a dime. In some cases they may be costing someone else who provides a cheap alternative a sale, but the author of what they pirated can only gain from the arrangement.
That is the point of peer pressure. It molds society into what is acceptable and what is not.
Just because the majority of your peers feel one way does not make them right. Is it a good thing when someone is pressured into racism because they happen to live in a place that is full of racists?
If someone steps over the line and takes illegal retribution against someone who signed a petition after that info was made public then they would be in the wrong and handled under the law.
That is all well and good, but it probably won't assuage the family of someone who was beaten to death.
To try and make a fair comparison. With that logic you might as well take $399.95 off of the PC you are comparing against because open office works fine and is free.
Exactly. Everyone knows that the Vulcans do not have cloak technology and thus could not sneak the top of a mountain anywhere. Shame on you samzenpus...
Well, if we are going to involve Microsoft in hypothetical situations... Imagine if Microsoft changed their generic HID drivers so that they would only work with devices that have a Microsoft USB ID. Sure, other vendors could write their own USB mouse and keyboard drivers to make them work using a documented standard, but would Slashdot leap to defend Microsoft's decision?
One could argue that it is the power itself that is immortal. When a powerful individual dies his influence and wealth don't cease to exist, rather they are passed on to a successor.
Simply update your copy of the homebrew channel. The latest version will not be removed by 4.2. Nintendo simply looks for a channel with the homebrew channel's ID to decide what to remove. The latest version has a different ID.

Twitter users don't have to be sick to vomit all over the internet.
So as long as the members of Congress aren't in some corporation's pocket we are OK? Uh oh...

I think what we need here is a visual aid. The black line is an example of a steep learning curve.
He's not a part of your system! He'll throw your wavicle on THE GROUND!
My vintage Casio calculator harnessed the power of the sun. This, not so much.
The fact that I understood that wall of acronymns is vaguely disconcerting...
Windows 7 is SSH friendly
Putty still works, then?
I've been listening to Dvorak on Twit for a few years now.
Why does anyone listen to this guy?
Er...

Games, films etc. are made to make money, not to just satisfy artistic desires.
As a developer who writes games in his spare time that rarely see the light of day I have to disagree.
The Eee Box is not a netbook. It does not run on batteries.

The second option won't even accomplish anything anyway as kids will call each other |=ags and /\$$holes to get around the filters.
=! != !=
Seems like would work just as well...

Right up until you need to insert something into the middle of it...

Operation Ajax.
Sounds like a good codename for the latest evolution of slashdot...
