Sad news, Britney Spears dead at 22

I just heard some really sad news on Fox - Singer and Popstar Britney Jean Spears was found dead in her Louisana home this morning.

Apparently, the cause of death was excessive bleeding after a sizzling night of hot anal sex with her ex. boyfriend, Justin Timberlake.

"We were just having good sushi, and she asked me if I would please her", said Justin. Although he has since turned gay after his breakup with her, Justin was willing to please Britney as long as she would take it up her ass.

Following a night of sex for 10 hours, Britney sustained an injury in her lower vaginal area and subsequently bled to death. Her husband Kevin Federline, who is at the moment spending time at a federal prison for sexual advances towards Natalie "hot grits" Portman was not available for comment (an incident which has infuriated the Slashdot community, understandably).

However, President George W Bush offered his comments on the incident. "Here is the reason why anal sex is bad and why gays are unAmerican, they kill Americans and American icons", he was quoted as saying.

There weren't any more details. I'm sure everyone in the Slashdot community will surely miss her - even if you didn't enjoy her work, there's no denying her contributions to popular culture. Truly an American icon.

    She will be missed, sorely.

Indeed, Britney. Indeed. Rest in peace, child.

    4. Putin for India getting veto power

See the differences - on one hand, Bush is up in arms about Bin Laden and pursuing goody relatins with a country that is an Islamic nation with a military dictator, while Putin is discussing economic ties and helping India join the UN and visiting IT companies.

Doesn't that in itself say a lot?

Quite honestly, I'm amazed - you ought to be encouraging third world countries to come out and grow economically, like India is - it is a democracy and is doing quite well. But instead, the fact that the US is encouraging countries like Pakistan is quite surprising.

Look at your allies - Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Israel...

    You're right.

Another thing however is the fact that Cingular has combined both the backbone platforms for both TDMA and GSM for other services such as SMS.

Therefore, I would not be surprised that with the advent of this merger, we may see a rise in the numbers. The customer does not care which one s/he gets -- all that the customer cares about is the quality of service and cheaper rates, nothing more.

While TDMA maybe able to provide cheaper rates, the advent of 3G and the like, as well as need for international compatbility, may drive them to make GSM a little more popular than it is.

    Hopefully, that is.

    From the article -

NASA Secures Approval in 30 Days
To accelerate NASA's primary science missions in a timely manner, high-end computing experts from NASA centers around the country collaborated to build a business case that Brooks and his team could present to NASA headquarters, the U.S. Congress, the Office of Management and Budget, and the White House. "We completed the process end to end in only 30 days," Brooks said.

    Wow. That's incredibly fast, IMHO.

As the article mentions, I suppose NASA owes this to the success of their 512-processor Kalpana system, in honor of the late astronaut Kalpana Chawla.

    And look at this --

"In some cases, a new Altix system was in production in as little as 48 hours," said Jim Taft, task lead, Terascale Applications Group, NASA. "This is starkly different from implementations of systems not based on the SGI architecture, which can take many months to bring to a reliable state and ready for science."

w00t! That's like super-fast in terms of development time. Good job, NASA. Way to go.

And what about the other companies mentioned in the article?

In addition to Intel Itanium 2 processors, the Columbia installation features storage technology from Brocade Communications and Engenio Information Technologies, Inc., memory technology from Dataram Corporation and Micron Technology, Inc. and interconnect technology from Voltaire.

I've not heard of any of them other than Voltaire - are they well known in this area, or are they defense/NASA contractors of some kind?
