Same with the guys in the air. Most airlines flying anything from twin props, to A380's do a sim eval. Again, part of multi tiered hiring approach, but still exists. And a lot of the airlines that do not have a sim eval, will frequently go one further, and do it in the real plane.

  4. Re:What's different? on Using Windows 7 RC? Pay Up Or Auto Shutdown Warned · · Score: 1

Whenever I use Windows, it always seems to shut itself down frequently when I'm in the middle of working on something. There's Blue Screens, automagic updates, and random freezes. So, what's different about this? It isn't going to change the uptime very much.

I got the retail of windows 7, never had a blue sceen, turned off automatic update (so it never reboots because of updating) and never had a freeze caused by the OS. I had the exact same experience with the RC. And, for the most part, same with the beta (minor issues, but it was a beta version)

Why does this commercial product work at all without payment?

Its the release client, mostly a demo product, for people to try it before the retail version is released, so that they could go and buy it knowing that is better than Vista

I used to be on that forums and site a lot, and that's not a legit source. Its one guys opinion (and the guy is a idiot, to be honest.) If you even say EA, and bad game in the same sentence, he comes after you. Huge EA fan boy. However, I wouldn't be all that surprised if EA did make a C&C MMO, but like most of there recent games, it would be a epic failure.

Its to control the market. They control what controllers the system can use, and because of that they control who makes the controllers. Once you start allowing mouse and keyboards, your opening the door to more third parties making things for your console which means lower profits. Since they can only use the one (or very few) the makers and thus flow of money can be controlled.
