  2. digital storage does not last on JVC First With A HD-Based Consumer Camcorder · · Score: 1

If you want reliable archiving for more than 3-5 years, digital ain't going to do it. CDs don't last. DVDs don't last. Until a storage medium is developed that will last 100 years or more like old photographs and documents, forget it.

  3. rewards for the non-gullible on Gone Phishing? · · Score: 3, Insightful

Banks, Ebay, PayPal, and all the other popular phish targets should have rewards programs for customers who aren't gullible and don't fall for scams. And maybe a "congratulations on not being an ignorant gullible fool" reward would motivate more customers to actually care. Most folks don't, they assume the government will protect them. I think we should stop foiling natural selection and let it do its job.

  4. They lied to you on Switching to Contracting? · · Score: 2, Insightful

What makes you think they will be good to work for, when they pulled a bait-and-switch on you? That's not a tiny lie, that's a huge one. What else are they lying about? How many other ways will they backstab you?

  5. Solaris is not open on Will Open Source Solaris Kill Linux? · · Score: 1

Read the license- they can call it "open", but it's just as convoluted and restrictive as any proprietary license. Sun wants the F/OSS community to love them and quit debunking Sun's FUD, but they don't want to actually do anything to deserve it.

But they need McNealy! Because he's a great technologist... no wait, that's not it. Because he's a great CEO... no wait, that's not it....because he makes a drunk 13-year old sound mature... could that be it? They need an official trash-talking nitwit?

But not many. Just another Microsoft droid spouting the same tired propaganda, and completely devoid of facts. First of all I don't believe 90% market share, especially not worldwide.

Secondly, its record speaks for itself- windows, outlook, and IE are exploited because IT'S SO FREAKING EASY. Sure, you can maybe sort of lock out users from core system functions, but you can't lock out applications from altering core system files. Hello, the Registry! Hello .dll and .vxd! Just visit a Web site and poof! ownz0red. Just leave your winduhs system connected to the Internet, and bam! Instant spam relay. such a friendly lil OS!

Really dood, you call yourself a programmer- you should know better. Face the facts. If you can.

Tolerant? Of what, idiocy? Oh wait, this is Slashdot, where idiocy is required. Anyway I am definitely not tolerant of your finding the staged photo of raising the flag at Iwo Jima sacred, and somehow turning that into an attack on the NetBSD logo. The "funny" mod is appropriate, 'cause how can that be taken seriously?
