  1. Missing Color in key? on Visual DDoS Representation and Its Ramifications · · Score: 1

Am I going blind, or is there a color missing in the key? Or perhaps it's a firefox rendering error? At any rate, I can't find out what light blue is supposed to represent.

  2. Bad idea for ads on How Battlestar Galactica Killed TV · · Score: 1

I found the author's idea for inserting advertisements into a program to be a terrible idea. It already exists in America to a certain extent, where a network will have icons come on screen in the middle of a show to advertise some other program. Spike TV is exceptionally guilty of this invasion on the program.

This advertising horribly distracts from the program, and I hate it even more than when some stupid network stamp obstructs something important in the program. It's a terrible idea, and I pray that it does not prove to be the next evolution of advertising.

  3. Complete waste on The Xbox 360 Unveiled · · Score: 1

The XBOX special provided almost no new information about the XBOX. They still haven't announced a release date, they still haven't confirmed or denied backwards compatability, and there's still no mention of the price. Why couldn't they give us information instead of a stupid Gen-X hype machine?

  4. 45 bucks is way too much! on Final Fantasy Advent Children Release Dated · · Score: 1

  6. Re:CD-RW?! Yeah right... on Xbox 360 & Next-Gen Live Specifications Leaked · · Score: 1

Sorry, made a mistake, it actually reads DVD-R/RW. Seeing as how the XBOX 360 uses a DVD drive, that should be large enough to stick a game on two DVD's. More than easy enough to make pirating through the system worthwhile.

  7. CD-RW?! Yeah right... on Xbox 360 & Next-Gen Live Specifications Leaked · · Score: 3, Insightful

I highly doubt that MS would be including a writeable CD with this. That would only make piracy easier, which MS has been fighting from day one of the XBOX. In fact, with all the hardware changes to mod chips, and booting people from xbox live, I'd say they've been putting up a bigger fight than any other video game hardware company. No, I really don't believe that there's a CD-RW. Frankly, this sounds like just more stupid fud that slashdot is tossing around. Why don't you stop posting random guesses and lies that anyone sees on the web?

  8. Bullshit on 3D Projection Rumoured to be The Revolution · · Score: 5, Interesting

This is a load of crap. Nintendo has repeatedly said that this will operate conventionally on the television, and that the "revolution" for the system is the method of control. This guy has no idea what he's talking about. Just tossing out more fud that slashdot is gleefully snatching up.

There's a rumor going around that there were a great number of things about the movie that were in contention between the studio and Douglass Adams, and that after his death all of these points were decided by the studio in their favor. Is there any truth to this? A lot of fans are concerned that this film will not be faithful to Douglass Adams' vision for the movie.

  11. Still a comedy? on Ask 'Hitchhiker's Guide' Exec. Producer Robbie Stamp · · Score: 3, Interesting

I have been confused by the TV spot for this film. It pushes itself as a Sci-Fi exploration, possibly action film with absolutely no comedy. Is this merely the TV advertising campaign, or is the film not a comedy?

  12. Article writer confused about terms too on 'Geek Speak' Confuses Net Users · · Score: 5, Informative

It seems like the writer of the article is confused about these "geek" terms as well, as he got the definition of a Trojan wrong.

From the article: A Trojan is a malicious piece of software which installs itself on a person's computer without their knowledge.

A Trojan, or Trojan Horse, is actually a malicious program that purports to be a legitimate application. To be classified as a Trojan, it must require execution by the user. The Trojan Horse of myth was left at the gates of Troy seemingly as a gift, but actually housed men who unlocked the gates to allow the invading armies into Troy. Hence the name Trojan Horse for the program.

Wikipedia says: A trojan horse computer program has a useful and desired function, or at least it has the appearance of having such. Secretly the program performs other, undesired functions.

To be honest, I'd prefer a game rating system similar to the toy rating system - something that measured difficulty/playability rather than simple violence. I mean, there's nothing in FF7 that my daughter shouldn't see or hear, but that doesn't mean she's capable of enjoying it.

FF7 had cursing, a whorehouse, sexual innuendos, and implied sexual situations. Would you be ok with your 8 year old daughter seeing or hearing all of that?

I doubt that a HD as an accessory would sell well. Take a look at the PS2 drive. The only reason to buy it is for Final Fantasy XI. If Microsoft isn't including the HD in all of their versions of XBOX 2, developers will be less inclined to utilize it, and it'll be just as useless as the PS2 HD.
