  1. If Disney is not reprimanded for this, then our entire legal system and government needs to be torn down and rebuilt because we're so corrupt it cannot be fixed without bloodshed.

Absolutely disagree. What we need to do is get money out of politics, and there are multiple ways of going about that before we have to resort to bloodshed. Check out wolf-pac.com, rootstrikers.org, or movetoamend.org. Give those guys your time, your money or both, and save the bloodshed for a situation where we have no other choice. As it stands, we will do more harm then good if we turn to violence. We can still solve the problems plaguing our nation through peaceful means, and it's up to all of us to lend a hand.

He just announced that he wants to sue journalists who criticize him. He despises freedom of the press and has no problem with using the law to silence critics, which is a defining hallmark of fascists like Trump.

And that resonates with people who aren't you, people that you think are "xenophobes" because their values are different.

I am proud to call myself intolerant of fascist values. Not all "values" are equally valid, and I'm nauseated to see people like you stepping up to defend American fascism as if it's just a "different set of values". Trump is toxic to the values my nation was founded upon, and his supporters are as bad or worse.

I first started coming to Slashdot because this site had some good articles about video games. I might not be an expert sysadmin, I'm a little bit fuzzy about the difference between Vi and Emacs, but I know a thing or two about the video games. Given all that we currently know about both consoles, I'd recommend the PS4. Most multiplatform releases are available on the PS4, and there are a number of upcoming impressive exclusives on the PS4 that aren't available on the Xbox One. In terms of hardware, the two consoles are roughly equal. Last gen, I would have recommended the 360 over the PS3, but this time the PS4 clearly has the edge.

Of course, if we broaden our options beyond the PS4 and XBONE, I'd recommend the Wii U. Triple-A games are a load of bullshit these days. I despise the money grubbing behaviors in the AAA industry. I hate seeing games released in a broken state, with large portions of the core experience carved out as DLC in order to nickle and dime the customer. Nintendo, on the other hand, releases games that are extremely high-quality and then releases DLC in the form of mini-expansions, which is what DLC should have been all along. So if you really like games and don't like bullshit, pick up a Wii U or 3DS instead of a PS4 or XBONE.

This would imply that you're well aware of these facts, and wanted to draw attention away from them by focusing on another part of my post. Assuming that's the case, I'm asking you now to put aside the partisan vitriol and just stop to think about that for a moment. Those facts alone are fucked up. Really, really fucked up. Something has gone very wrong in this country, and it scares the hell out of me. I want to believe that you care about our nation as much as I do, and I want to believe that you can put aside past loyalties for the good of your country. This isn't a game, and it doesn't get any more serious than this. The right has taken a very dark turn, and we need people on the right to have the courage to pull us back before things go too far.

You are living in denial. Things are getting out of hand in this country, and instead of trying to deny it, you need to take a hard look at the facts of the situation. Just the other day Ted Cruz suggested that we only allow Christians into this country. Multiple Republican candidates just visited a big conference held by some nut who thinks we should execute gay and lesbian Americans. Donald Trump has endorsed setting up a database of Muslims, and there are multiple instances of Trump supporters violently attacking Hispanic Americans. And those are just a few example of right-wing extremism! Don't you see where this is all headed? Can you not understand how dire the situation is becoming? Fascism is already here, and it's not coming from the left.

I have not seen any Democrats proposing anything that even comes close to the things coming out of the Republican party. From the Republicans we see religious tests, attempts to deny rights to specific religions, and now a national registry of Muslims of the exact same sort that Hitler used against the Jews. It's very fashionable to pretend that "both sides are equally as bad", but we need to take a long, hard look at the reality of the situation. And it's only one side of the American political spectrum that's pushing for all-out fascism.

I can understand conservative's (Tea Party types) dislike - it was pretty damning the selective enforcement of tax laws against conservative organizations

Wrong. This is one of the most widely debunked myths in modern politics. The IRS was investigating a wide range of new 501(c)(4) organizations that cropped up following the formation of the tea-party movement. 501(c)(4) organizations are tax-exempt nonprofits, and as such they are obligated to avoid being used for political purposes. Political organizations are supposed to be taxed. So of course, like any responsible agency should, the IRS took time to carefully examine the sudden influx of obvious right-wing political organizations seeking tax-exempt status. Even so, not a single one of those organizations was ever denied 501(c)(4) status.

At the same time, the IRS was giving similar scrutiny toward more liberal leaning organizations. They went through the same process as the rightwinger political organizations, but unlike the rightwingers, the IRS decided to go ahead and deny status to a number of seemingly-liberal organizations. Of course, this didn't particularly matter to the rightwing media when the story broke. They proceeded to lie, scream incoherently and flood the airwaves with manufactured outrage. It was part of the ongoing effort by the right to paint themselves as victims, and they still won't shut up about it no matter how often it's been debunked. As we've seen again and again, if the evidence for wrongdoing never surfaces, the right will just turn a non-scandal into a conspiracy theory. See: Benghazi, Obama's birth certificates, etc.

Many of the authors you listed there, such as Tolstoy and Twain, certainly deserve high praise for their literary accomplishments. But Capek's R.U.R. was absolute dreck, to be quite frank. It was nothing but overacting, gaping plot-holes and general absurdity. The characters seemed like bizarre inhuman caricatures who engage in nonsensical behavior.

Readers are introduced to "Helena" at the beginning of the play, who all the male characters immediately fall in love with at first sight. In Capek's surreal vision of the world, this is not even a source of any drama, and all the men are perfectly happy to let her pass them over in favor of Domin, who she marries. From there, the play jumps immediately into a robot uprising several years later, most of which occurs off-stage, and ends with the off-stage eradication of humanity. The robots discover that they cannot reproduce without the aid of their human creators, but this dilemma is solved when two robots fall in love with one another. A ham-fisted reference to Adam and Eve glosses over the unsolved reproductive issue, and all the robots presumably live happily ever after.

I cannot speak for the rest of Capek's work, or whether these issues were merely a result of a poor translation, but I cannot call R.U.R. a great piece of literature from my own personal experience.
