  1. People should learn. on Windows XP Starter Edition Review · · Score: 0, Flamebait

People should learn how to use computers. They can't just sit in front of it and expect it to do most of the stuff for them and teach them how to do the rest of it. That's why computer education at schools is so important. Computers are complex machines. When developers try do make it too easy to use things get overly complicated and bugs start to sneak in. Much of today's problems with computers can be attributed to people dumbing down computers.

Almost everyone seem think that Useability/Good UI means that the useage of the program should be easy to learn. However, a program's difficulty of learning has nothing to do with its useability. Even if it's hard to learn, once someone has learnt how to use it, the user should be able to do things quickly and easily. Therefore, programs like Vi (or even emacs) fare well in terms of useability. And most of the Windows/Mac/X apps are unuseable. Just because all the program's options are visible in a menu and big fancy buttons doesn't mean that it's easy to use. It's just easy to learn .

Huh? Why would they do that? First of all why would they delete that particular account among the thousands of accounts on yahoo? If they deleted it because of the non-activity policy that some email providers have, why would they need to "cover it up"? It's in the TOS.

  4. Why mention it? on MacWorld Expo Traffic Analysis · · Score: 0, Redundant

The Windows Server 2003-based Macworld Expo site folded under all those hits, while Apple's sites, running Mac OS X, were only knocked into sluggishness. (Server load is a complex thing, of course -- more complicated than what OS is on the servers.)

Then why it it mentioned in the summary?

  5. JPEG - get it right on Breakthrough In JPEG Compression · · Score: 2, Informative

It's JPEG, not JPG. JPG is the file extension used for JPEG files on DOS systems because of 3 character file-extension limitation. JPEG is the name of the format/compression and the extension (which should be) used on systems that support 3+ character file-extensions. Because of the internet the JPG extension has spread and now people ignorantly use JPG to even refer to the format/compression.

True. Here, parents suppress any ambitions their children might have and (some times) even force them to graduate in either engineering or medical. And they think and make their children think that studying (related to school and college) like a machine is the only way to succeed in life. It really sucks. And it's far worse than it sounds.
